BTW, what do we think about Ray Liotta? He’s obviously not winning, but could he coattail and get a nom.

I always enjoy watching him. The category is filling up and may look pretty crowded in January. I haven’t noticed any buzz for him individually but he does have a chance for Ensemble.

Darlings, such a good, classy trailer. Thatcher was heartbroken. Johansson is winning a dildo for her vagina.

I feel like he could split votes with Alda and then they both end up missing out.

You can be a disgusting pig. How refreshing.

This looks fantastic. Driver looks great, Johansson looks killer. Loved the music, loved the dialogue. Most anticipated of the year.

Having just seen it last night, I think I significantly prefer Driver’s performance to Joaquin’s (and I even like Joker more than I did Marriage Story). Driver has all the scenes in this to be considered a real threat for the Oscar (I am concerned for ScarJo however). I would say wait for the movie, because the trailers do not show you the incredible range Driver possesses. Until this point, I always thought of him as a fine (but not necessarily top tier) actor. But now I can see clearly what all these auteur directors obviously did when they cast him. Adam Driver is one of the best working today. Whether this translates to Oscar all depends on whether Joaquin starts sweeping or not, but I really hope we get a race because both these guys are incredible. Personally, Driver is better.

I’m curious how much of Adam’s other work you’ve seen because I’ve seen everything he’s done and his work in Patterson and Hungry Hearts especially is absolutely magnificent. There definitely is a reason why Scorcese said that he is “one of the best, if not the best, actors of his generation.”

Just shows you can have the same haircut, same physical weight yet completely disappear and make every character distinct and believable. He’s not known as a chameleon actor but, his body of work can attest that he should be.

His range is fking amazing, in MS it seems he has a chance to demonstrate that and infuse a marriage of character elements from his past roles. His douchey charisma in This is Where I Leave You and Frances Ha. And comedy chops from Girls and The Dead Dont Die. And his introverted intensity in Paterson and the emotional explosiveness and drive in Hungry Hearts.

Darlings, I want to see this movie so bad. Can’t wait for Shouty Dern’s court scene.

I can’t see this movie in theaters because that scene will probably make me orgasm.

I know it’s just a trailer, but Adam Driver will not win an Oscar for this. Joaquin might lose, but NOT over Driver! https://youtu.be/bK19jmrtWUM

His best scenes are barely even shown in the trailer. What a dumb thing to say when you haven’t even seen the film.

    My thoughts exactly, well said.

Dazzling and compelling film, and certainly one of Noah Baumbach’s best to date. You have a palpable sense throughout watching this that the material was personal to him and hit close to home. This feels like our generation’s answer to “Kramer vs. Kramer,” only with a colder, meaner streak at the core of it, which doesn’t make it any less hopeful by the ending. The revelation here is Adam Driver. I’ve tried to follow his career closely ever since “Girls,” and even I wasn’t prepared for this level of performance, or didn’t know he was capable of all of this? So nuanced, so piercing, so devastating. Phoenix has some competition now. The plot thickens…more later.
