They’re only making the movie market seem more niched with blockbuster and art-houses. You don’t have to be so pretentious saying every film should be a lesson of philosophy. Just say you don’t like it.
Yeah, Marvel movies are boring and predictable but you don’t have to discredit from cinema. This word shouldn’t be put on such regard, it’s just a form of exhibition. These directors don’t have to be so petty cause boring stories are being told in the same medium they did their “masterpieces”. It becomes just selfish and narrows down the possibilities that could come from any type of film, even superheroes.

Coppola’s recent filmography has been crap. No wonder some people don’t know he’s even alive. At least Scorsese has been consistent in his output.October 21, 2019 at 12:00 am #1203145433
This has nothing to do with my thoughts on his comments but I really thought Francis Ford Coppola had been dead for years until I read this headline
I literally thought that they were dredging up an old quote by him from years ago for this reason lol.

I guess they can have their opinions. I know it has to suck having 2 veterans make such comments. I do hate that Marvel is part of Disney though.October 21, 2019 at 7:40 am #1203145646
My main concern with this whole thing is that I saw so many dumb Marvel stans screaming about how Scorsese knew nothing about film and was just jealous or something. Scorsese shouldn’t be judging an entire genre without seeing most of its films, that’s true, but his assessment was pretty damn close to the truth. It really becomes apparent when people deride a man who made Taxi Driver and Goodfellas for having no taste when they screech over the fan service mediocrity storm known as Avengers: Endgame. Good taste is becoming harder to find, so good films are playing less in theaters – it’s no wonder Scorsese took his latest film to Netflix instead.October 21, 2019 at 8:34 am #1203145715
As far as I see it, Scorsese and Coppola are flat-out wrong about this* because the films in the Marvel universe are not designed to be like Schindler’s List or Sophie’s Choice. And that’s not a bad thing. They’re not designed to be GoodFellas or Porky’s or Apocalypse Now or Frozen either. Also not a bad thing. And Scorsese and Coppola deciding from their cinematic high horse that it is is frankly ridiculous. There are ALL TYPES OF CINEMA for all types of people to enjoy.
And that? That is a good thing.
* Doesn’t mean that Scorsese and Coppola still aren’t great filmmakers and haven’t made some of the greatest films like ever.October 21, 2019 at 8:40 am #1203145745
Darlings, Thatcher agrees with them. They are classy directors who don’t deserve to be bashed by ridiculous fanboys. I have to laugh. Scorsese and Coppola are fine. They simply don’t care about you. They are legends and, of course, all of this superhero stuff if a joke and an offense to true cinema. Disgusting.

Really. I find it amusing that Scorsese would say that when his obsession is with The very same genre he’s (rightfully) known for.
Ditto to Coppola.

Old men don’t like popular thing, news at 11.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Anything is better than Joker discourse, but really? Who cares? MCU stans can’t just be content that the thing they love is the most successful franchise of all time, they have to scream and stomp their feet at any and all opposition. Embarrassing.</p>

These old bitches need to suck on a caramel and go somewhere and sit down. This isn’t even fun like it’s supposed to be when legends are shady to the next generation. This isn’t “beautiful gowns”. It’s just disrespectful and being an asshole.October 22, 2019 at 3:47 pm #1203148140

why you people have to bring the age card to this conversation? I am 29 and I hate superheroes movies too.October 22, 2019 at 4:33 pm #1203148218

I watch them all. And I’m not their target.
The film industry has been struggling for a while so what brings butts into theatres is fine by me.
