Raves so far. Let’s see if those fanboys who begged for Logan to get Oscar recognition will do the same for Black Panther.

Wow. 87 on Metacritic with 22 reviews. This could be the most acclaimed Superhero film right?

So far I see it getting a solid 4 nods in 2019. Visual Effects, Costume Design, Sound Mixing, Make Up and Hairstyling.

If reviews stay in the high 90s, and near the same for meta critic.. I am not sure if the Oscars will be able to survive the bad press if they ignore it. It does have to stay at 95% and above on rotten tomatoes, and around 86-100 on metacritic.

I could also see them nominating Lupita or Michael for their one acting nod if they take the Get Out approach. Coogler could get in to Director if they do the Get Out awards route too.

I think Danai and Letitia have the best reviews for the women.

Woah guys let’s not go overboard here, this won’t come anywhere close to a directing or acting nom. Hopefully some tech nods, maybe if it’s actually as good as the reviews say then Adapted Screenplay, I don’t know how that category is looking for next year but if it’s weak again, maybe. I’m still hesitant about the movie, Marvel has been disappointing me again and again. Supposedly this one doesn’t totally follow the usual formula so it’s the first marvel movie I’ve been excited to see in years.

With 64 reviews, Black Panther has an INCREDIBLE 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Genre prejudice shouldn’t discourage the studio, fans, nor pundits about its eventual award season recognition.

Call me prejudiced but I have my doubts about all those raves being sincere.

Please go somewhere with that. Can Black people have anything?

I’ve seen raves for them too, but I’ve read about 3 or 4 reviews wanting Lupita to have a spin off she’s so good.

If reviews stay at this level, it has to be a Best Picture contender in the expanded field. It looks on course to overtake Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight as the most critically well recieved live action superhero film in history.

Release date isn’t ideal for BP odds, but Get Out was a Feburary genre release as well, so I don’t think it’s a dealbreaker.
