Out of her 21 nominations at the Oscars which ones do you think Queen Meryl truly deserves to win and we’re there any other times where you thought she should have been nominated when she wasn’t

IMO She deserved to win for
    Kramer v. Kramer-1980
    Sophie Choice-1983
    Silkwood-1984
    A Cry in the Dark-1989
    Adaptation-2003
    The Devil Wears Pravda-2007
    Doubt-2009
    The Iron Lady-2012

And she should Have Been Nominated for
    Death Becomes Her
    The Hours

I know right? This woman was so supporting in The Devil Wears Prada, that would’ve been a more logical third Oscar. No way she was Lead. She was gone for long parts of the movie, you know, probably planning how to be a fabulous bitch as Miranda Priestly.

Now that i think of it…she may be supporting in that film but whatever she’s meryl streep she even could have gone lead on into the woods.

I’m 100000% fine with her first two Oscars, but definitely not fine with her third when there were so many other times to reward her, such as:

    -The Bridges of Madison County

    -One True Thing

    -Adaptation

    -Devil Wears Prada (in Supporting)

    -Doubt

    -Julie & Julia

-tie with Cate Blanchett for August: Osage County

To be honest, she was overdue for a third Oscar in 2011. But the fact that Viola was so close to a win which would have been a well-remembered and overall better win than Meryl’s, and just as well the fact that Rooney and Michelle were also so incredibly worthy and that stellar actresses such as Tilda and Kirsten were snubbed makes her win for The Iron Lady embittering. It was a cheap nomination and a cheap win for an overly baity role. I believe that every single role I listed up there was Meryl truly inhabiting her character, and it just sucks that the Academy chose to honor one of her weaker roles to stand alongside such performances as Kramer vs Kramer and Sophie’s Choice when they had so many other chances. That’s the Oscars in a nutshell though, isn’t it?

Gosh, there are so many great ones. Sophie’s Choice is the obvious slam-dunk, and deservedly so. I’ve always been partial to her performance in Julie and Julia, as well (I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen it). I agree with a lot of posters that she should have been nominated in Supporting (and won) for The Devil Wears Prada, and I thought she was deserving in August, Osage County.

It’s funny how with all of Streep’s nominations there were really only two times that there was any suspense involved as to whether she would win or not. (For French Lieutenant’s Woman the thinking was she would win and The Iron Lady was really close with her and Viola Davis) All the other times the results were expected.

If she’d won for French Lieutenant over Hepburn she’d have the record now with 4 wins.

    Should have won for……

    Julie and Julia

The Devil Wears Prada (in the supporting category though)

Shouldn’t have won for The Iron Lady or be nominated for The Post. Two weak performances in poor movies

FYC Emily Blunt (Mary Poppins Returns) and Lady Gaga (A Star is Born) for best actress

Unpopulqr opinion but Meryl’s witch in Into the woods deserved every inch of that Oscar nomination. Anyone wants proof? watch her last midnight rendition.

She deserved to win mostly in the 80s and I do think that 1980s was her prime decade.

I would have given her wins for: Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie’s Choice, The Devil Wears Prada and The Post

Agreed. The nomination was definitely earned, particularly in a weak year.
