was sort of the Daniel Day Lewis of time. Yes he didn’t win the Oscar but he was nominated 4 times and should have won at least once.

the first film I saw him in was The Heiress. I was a fan after that. Not sure I could choose a fave performance from him, he was so good in all of them, pre and post his disfiguring accident.
He was an intense, understated, remarkable actor.

He is my favorite actor. Such talent. Such beauty. Can’t quite see someone like him nowadays. My account name comes from him.

One of my all time favourites. Brilliant, intelligent actor who could express emotions bigger than life with a subtle blink of an eye. Rebellious icon whose impact on acting and popular culture is much more significant than he is usually given credit for.

It’s bitterly fitting that he died alone and forlorn and was buried in a graveyard that’s not open to the public. He was never really part of any scene, never fit in, yet by baring his tortured soul to the world in his performances he brought and still brings pleasure to billions.

Very hard to list his best performances but here’s an attempt:

1 A Place in the Sun
    2 I Confess
    3 The Misfits
    4 Judgment at Nuremberg
    5 From Here to Eternity
    6 Freud
    7 Wild River
    8 The Heiress
    9 Red River
    10 Suddenly Last Summer

Have only seen him in Judgement at Nuremberg and he was perfect.

He acted with his eyes and you can see grief in them.
