An impressive EGOT will be the person who wins:

Academy Award for Best Picture (Oscar)

Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Drama/Comedy Series (Emmy)

Grammy Award for Album of The Year (Grammy)

Tony Award for Best Play/Musical (Tony)

Is anyone near to win these categories?

Scott Rudin is probably the closest (BP Oscar and several Tonys for BP/BM)

    Quincy Jones

    • Album of the Year (Thriller)
    • Best Revival of a Musical (The Colour Purple)
    • Outstanding Limited Series (Roots)

His Oscar is an honorary so he’s not an official EGOT but he was nominated for Best Picture for The Colour Purple.

One I see on her way to having a super-deserved-slash-“impressive” EGOT is Jennifer Hudson: An Oscar for Acting and a Grammy for an actual album. She’s done television work (guest stint on Smash) and it’s only a matter of time before she performs on Broadway. Not bad for an American Idol castoff, who’s already won the hardest two to get.

Sidenote: I keep waiting for Frances McDormand and Marcia Gay Harden to get Emmys. Just so they have all three acting accolades.

I hope you realize that Frances Mcdormand has 2 emmys. She won both Outstanding Limited Series (as a producer) and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for Olive Kitteridge.
