Hmmm..Sigourney, Glenn, Annette. Tough choice.
I’ll go with Weaver.

Philip K Dick Blade RunnerFebruary 5, 2016 at 9:05 pm #215499Even though Rosamund Pike has only had one nomination, it was one hell of a performance that should’ve won and was easily the best with the highest degree of difficulty. So in that sense, I would say Amazing Amy 😉 I voted for Jessica Chastain, though. She never has a bad performance and is always brilliant. Hoping she finally gets a win with The Zookeeper’s Wife or Blonde or hell even both. I also hope that eventually down the line she’ll be a two-time winner or hell even three, but that’s pretty unlikely unfortunately. Viola Davis is very overdue as well, as she should’ve won for “The Help.” Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer, Annette Bening, and Sigourney Weaver should all also have won by the now, but they aren’t relevant anymore. Because of this, I don’t think they’ll ever win because they simply won’t get the material necessary for a win. They could surprise, but I doubt it.

The only way I can see Close winning is in a Christopher Plummer situation…good enough perf. with no clear front runner, likely supporting and not her most deserving perf.

Have you seen her body of work in film in the last let’s say 15 years? Yes, once she had it all, but just because she’s nominated 6 times, it doesn’t mean she automatically deserves an Oscar, especially if her filmography is mediocore nowadays.
You can’t possibly know what kind of different reasons lie behind our votes and there is no evidence that people voted for her because she has 6 nominations.

You also definitely don’t need to be topical to be considered an overdue. It’s not her fault that there aren’t enough roles for women at her age and her body of work in the past 15 years is still better than half of our recent Oscar winners.
