    Underrated performances I would’ve nominated:

    • Delroy Lindo, Da 5 Bloods – pretty clearly the worst snub of the season, and the most baffling, considering the movie was visible and he had critical love, joins Hawke and Sandler on the Oscars’ actor-who-should-have-won-but-wasn’t-even-nominated streak
    • Julia Garner,  The Assistant – probably the most underrated female performance of the year
    • Jessie Buckley, I’m Thinking of Ending Things – currently my Actress winner, although I haven’t seen Nomadland yet, but I appreciate the movie stood no chance with voters
    • Elizabeth Moss, The Invisible Man – the total lack of any love for this performance and her turn in Shirley awards-wise is a bit wild – I know, like Nyong’o and Collette, she has the genre-bias issue, but at least they had a shot at the Oscars
    • Han Ye-ri, Minari – I think you can make a case that she gives the best performance in Minari, it’s beautifully understated and just as important to the film as the rest of the ensemble, I think a lack of name-recognition and campaign visibility probably hurt her
    • Matthew Macfadyen, The Assistant – a proper supporting performances, steals the show in his one scene and really got under my skin
    • David Thewlis and Toni Collette, ITOET – super creepy, smart and unique performances, both definitely supporting, both actors who are overdue some Oscar recognition

John Magaro & Orion Lee – First Cow
    Brian Dennehey- Driveways
    Jessie Buckley – ITOET
Aubrey Plaza & Christopher Abbott – Black Bear
And that PP counselor in Never Rarely idk if she was a real one but she was impactful either way
