Queen of the Night by the legend Whitney Houston in Worst Original Song is just wrong.

Pretty much any nomination that the Fifty Shades films got.

It was based on snobbery of the books. Sometimes the screenplay was cheesy, but by no means awful. And the performances, most notably Dakota Johnson’s, actually elevated all three films.

The Shining wasn’t that well received when it first opened. And with much less films released back then and no Adam Sandler or Johnny Depp films, they had to fill up the spots with something. They also had way too many nominees on those lists.

The first performance that popped into my head. Yes, he’s silly and over the top, but that’s exactly what the movie and character called for, and there are actual moments where Devito brings genuine depth to the film.

I also agree with the people who mentioned Stanley Kubrick and Shelly Duvall’s nominations for The Shining. Kubrick’s direction is brilliantly haunting, and the horror that comes from Duvall’s performance really sells the terrifying nature of the film. I get the feeling that Duvall’s nomination was more based on the way she looks rather than her acting.

While I won’t defend Jennifer Lawrence’s nomination for Mother, I also don’t really care for her performance in it at all, so it doesn’t particularly bother me. However, Darren Aronofsky’s nomination was completely warranted.  All of that movie’s problems can be traced back to him. Although, at the same time, I feel like he should’ve been nominated for his overly pretentious screenplay rather than his direction.

Helen Mirren, Winchester. The film may have sucked, but she didn’t deserve to be dragged under, especially when this year also had Elle Fanning in Mary Shelley, Amandla Stenberg in the Darkest Minds, and Ronda Rousey in Mile 22.

As well as both Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon in The Spy Who Dumped Me. My God, they were so annoying in that film!!!

Worst Original Song nominees I actually enjoy:

“Shanghai Surprise” by George Harrison (1986, Shanghai Surprise)
“I Want Your Sex” [Razzie winner] by George Michael (1987, Beverly Hills Cop II)
“Pet Sematary” by the Ramones (1989, Pet Sematary)
“Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” by U2 (1995, Batman Forever)
“The End Is the Beginning Is the End” by Smashing Pumpkins (1997, Batman & Robin)

Diane Warren’s “How Do I Live” from Con Air, and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” from Armageddon were Oscar-nominated songs, and while neither of them are my favourites, neither should have been nominated for Razzies.

    Worst Director
    Stanley Kubrick, The Shining
    Brian De Palma, Scarface

While I personally did not like the movie mother!, I think Jennifer Lawrence still did a great job in that film, and should not have been nominated for a Razzie.

I think there are a lot of Razzie nominations for actors, who received them 99% because of the actions of their personal lives, rather than the on-screen performances:
    O.J. Simpson
    Tom Cruise
    Mel Gibson

And Donald Trump, although he’s never been an actor for me.

Heather Donahue for Blair Witch comes to mind, I feel like they only nominated her because the movie was popular and controversial and not because of the performance because she was actually fairly decent despite obvious limitations.

Jessica Lange being nominated for Hush was pretty bad too, it was a terrible movie but she was great in it and a lot of critics said the same.

As someone who previously found her hilarious, I feel like Kate McKinnon is actually getting less funny over time. Her recent performances often feel overly hammy and reliant on mugging. I can’t think of any film that she’s been in where I actually liked her, and I’ve grown unimpressed with a lot of her SNL work as of late, when previously I thought she was fantastic. Maybe it’s just that she often doesn’t have good material to work with, but I truly hope she can step up her game, cause I know she can do better

I agree with this. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen any of Blair Witch, but I always thought her nom was unfair. She did a good job of looking scared out of her mind, and her famous apology scene really can send shivers down my spine.

And Donald Trump, although he’s never been an actor for me.

That’s another one that doesn’t make any sense to me. Nominating people from archive footage used for documentaries, like George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Britney Spears and Condoleezza Rice for Fahrenheit 9/11, and Donald Trump, Kellyanne Conway, and Melania Trump for Fahrenheit 11/9.

Jennifer Lawrence deserved a nod for mother!, but at the Oscars.

On the other hand, Toni Collette was snubbed for a Razzie. She deserved it! What a disgusting performance.

LENA HEADEY hasn't got an Emmy for Game of Thrones????? Emmys you need to win her right now!!

Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones") for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

If Lena Headey doesn't win the Emmy, I'm leaving GoldDerby forever.

Jennifer Lawrence was absolutely ridiculous. The Razzies have been cancelled ever since.
