Yes. Doesn’t it seem strange that the film is really being embraced but people seem to want to ignore it? EO is great and Skolimowski’s career deserves this recognition.

EO is literally TOP 5 in the odds here, lol. No one is ignoring it.

I just think The Quiet Girl will get in instead. Got three BAFTA mentions with no push from anyone whatsoever, it has fantastic audience scores and it would be Ireland’s first nomination.

Film Heritage Award: Jeanine Basinger, one of our most esteemed and important film scholars, whose work at Wesleyan University and beyond has continually bridged the divide between Hollywood and academia, film studies and movie love.

Film Heritage Award: Screen Slate, published and edited by Jon Dieringer, an essential daily online publication that has done much to build and sustain the filmmaking, theatrical exhibition and film critical communities of New York City and by extension the world at large.

Film Heritage Award: Turner Classic Movies, for a rich array of programming that ranges deep and wide in the history of cinema, a service too easily taken for granted by audiences and worthy of the utmost care and attention from its corporate owners.

This concludes the National Society of Film Critics’ 57th annual voting meeting. Congratulations to all our winners!

EO has climbed to number five just recently even though it has already been winning major awards for a while. The film won the Jury Prize at Cannes, had won 2 of the trifecta, chosen by the NBR, appeared frequently at regionals, has a higher metacritic score than 3 of the 4 films ahead of it on odds. People were rather reluctant or ignoring the film. Because for everything that’s been happening in the season so far, EO should have been in the top 3 for a while now.

    Goodness…Charlotte Wells?

Wow. No Cameron, no Rajamouli? Instant cred fail.

Wells did a better job than both Cameron and Rajamouli. This wouldn’t be a bad nomination at the Oscars.
