What is so special or remarkable about Aftersun’s direction? It’s shot and made like any other A24 indie. The actors are very good but it doesn’t need to be nominated for Directing, lol.

The framing and editing is next level. It’s actual filmmaking with little normie spectacle, but without a doubt one of the five biggest directorial achievements of the year.

    For Your Consideration:
The Banshees of Inisherin in ALL categories, including:
    - Best Picture
    - Best Director
    - Best Actor (Colin Farrell)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Brendan Gleeson)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Barry Keoghan)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Kerry Condon)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Sheila Flitton)
    - Best Original Screenplay

They would never pick someone like Cameron in a million years even if he directed the best movie of all time. You know they think they’re too smart and special for Top Gun or Avatar.

maybe making a billion dollars for an action sequel just isn’t a good enough motivation to vote for it.

Yawn. It wasn’t anything special. I know it’s cool to cheer for the underdog but it doesn’t need recognition for directing, I mean come on.

Maybe you just don’t like good directing?

TÁR joins the exclusive club of films that swept the trifecta (NYFCC, LAFCA, NSFC) in Best Picture. Others that have accomplished this were Goodfellas, Schindler’s List, LA Confidential, The Hurt Locker, The Social Network and Drive My Car.

All of those films mentioned have won at least one Oscar at the Academy Awards too…

    SOS for AOTY

    Succession for Outstanding Drama Series

Steven Yeun and Ali Wong for Lead Actor and Lead Actress
