A new film adaptation of William Golding’s iconic novel Lord Of The Flies is in the works, with Luca Guadagnino attached to direct and Patrick Ness attached to write the screenplay. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/chaos-walking-author-patrick-ness-tackling-lord-flies-adaptation-1291660

I had to read this novel in my 10th grade English class, and I remember it was my favorite novel we read that year. My teacher even gave us an assignment to expand upon the novel’s ending. Did any of you have to read the novel in high school? And are you excited about this?

Lord of the Flies, A Separate Peace and The Catcher in the Rye were my three favorite books in high school. I read Catcher on my own since my high school thought it was inappropriate.

Glad to see a new film version of Lord of the Flies in the works as it has the potential to be beautiful with Guadagnino directing. I like hearing this.

Given that the story is set on an uncharted island, I wonder what location this will be filmed in. I hope they at least film it on location somewhere when COVID-19 eventually dies down, because if they shoot it indoors and use green screens, it won’t have the same kind of effect as using the real outdoors.

Seems like an ideal director selection.

I have no idea if this production is going to move forward, as there’s been virtually no updates about it since it was first announced. However, I have a perfect idea for casting. Jude Hill would be perfect as Ralph! He’s not only the right age for the part, but he matches Ralph’s physical description from the book all the way down to the blond hair. Plus, his performance in Belfast proves he’s more than capable of carrying a film.

Guadagnino’s current film is Bones and All and it looks like it could be in the Oscar mix.
