Let’s start a new thread about this terrific idea to launch Derbyite Awards that cite YOU as nominees and winners. Our tech guys are investigating ways that might work. Meantime, let’s cook up a LOT of categories like …

    Smartest Oscar Derbyite

    Most Delightfully Crazy Derbyite

    Funniest Derbyite

    Shrewdest Emmy Derbyite

What suggestions do YOU have? Let’s add some whimsical, funky ones in addition to obvious awards.

I think we should have 10 NOMINEES per category. What do you think?

The thread is still there so I’m guessing this is a seperate one.

Yeah I don’t understand this one. Tom, help us out please. It is a different game, or the same, but we are starting it over again?

I am also very confused – I kinda like the way we have it so far – clear-cut categories, such as Nicest Poster and Most Bitchy Poster and Lifetime Achivement Award – those are easy to vote for categories. I’m not sure we need categories like “Most Delightfully Crazy Derbyite” or “Shrewdest Derbyites” (as great as they sound)

Let’s just get the current ones done before thinking of new categories for the future – TomHardys and 24Emmy are doing a stand-up job of these awards, and we’re all very excited for them

Tom, wouldn’t it be easier to add the current awards to the predictions center?

I think what he’s saying is that this is a thread for new ideas for the same awards? I’m fine with more categories, but I feel like the number of nominees is pretty good. I’m not sure how the logistics would work for getting all the posters into a predictions centre though. That is the real question for me.

    1. Sumbitting yourself and others for awards consideration.

    2. Or nominating via personal messages, then voting on the winners via prediction center.

Yes, but isn’t that what’s currently being done? I meant nominations-wise of course, if we were to have some new categories.

Yes, we’re adding this functionality to the prediction center. They will be the same awards you’re talking about, but we’ll drop the word “Guild” — just Derbyite Awards … I want to add more categories so I’m asking you to volunteer ideas. No final list has been decided yet. I’m inviting your input.

These award titles were the ones initially proposed

    Best Poster of The Year:
    Lifetime Achievement Award:
    Best Contributor:
    Best Debater
    Best Editor
    Best Review
    Most Active User
    Most Dedicated Stan/Fanboy/Fangirl
    Most Entertaining Poster
    Best Avatars
    Best Signature photos
    Bitchiest Poster
    Nicest Poster
    Breakthrough Poster

I’ve thrown in a few more suggestions:

    Smartest Oscar Derbyite

    Most Delightfully Crazy Derbyite

    Funniest Derbyite

    Shrewdest Emmy Derbyite

    What ideas do YOU have?

Best Thread — we could suggest our 3 favorites and then the top fifteen or twenty are added to the predictions center for voting. Same format the Goldderby TV Awards use for episodes of the year.

Are the other nominations still valid or are we starting over?

This is just weird. We’re almost done with the voting deadline and all of a sudden the name is changed, new categories are added and I’m basically the last person to know this? Weird.

Not a fan of TomHardys, but this time I actually feel bad for him. It was basically his idea, and he made the whole thing happen with the help of some of the others. We have the noms. Almost the wins. So what is this thread exactly, dear Tom? 🙂 I respect the hell out of you, but pls share what you think. We will re-do the voting?

Yeah, I was preparing for the winners any day now, and then suddenly everything has changed, and even worse, the creator of the awards doesn’t even know about these changes? That’s a bit disappointing

Tom, can we not make your changes next year (or whenever the next awards are?) it seems a little too late for these changes, and to be honest, I really like the nominations that we previously announced, and the categories are just perfect – the new categories are just a little redundant – Smartest Derbyite is basically just Best Contributor and Best Reviewer. Funniest Derbyite and Most Delightfully Crazy Derbyite are basically Bitchiest Poster. I think we all would prefer quality of nominations, with less categories of meaningful merit, instead of quantity of nominations, with categories that are kinda interchangeable.

Just my two cents – I think TomHardys should continue with the previously announced routine, and then we’ll see how those work out, and then next time, we will make changes accordingly – half the fun of trying something new is the trying after all.
