I figured this would be in the works since PTA talked a lot about wanting to work with him. Denzel has been overdue to work with an auteur for a while now (Macbeth doesn’t quite count), and I don’t think he’d sign on to work with PTA unless he thought the material was good.

It was a new take on Shakespeare. I’m talking more about Denzel working with a Director-Screenwriter on an original project.

JUST RUMORS but it may be a 1940s jazz scene epic with organized crime elements.

October 27, 2022 at 11:26 am #1205134483I love when established veteran movie stars who could totally rest on their laurels still want to challenge themselves and work with auteurs that they’ve never worked with before. I’m not even the biggest PTA fan (I like some of his movies, dislike some, don’t really love any) but the idea of him with Denzel has me very excited. I think the thing I struggle with the most with PTA is his sort of emotional distance (at least in the movies I’ve seen) and if there is anything Denzel Washington does it is provide an emotional core to everything he does.

True. But Best Director Oscar is always a sad joke. For example: Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick NEVER won Best Director Oscar
