I checked the film’s IMDB page, and Reeve Carney is playing Tom Ford while Florence Andrews is playing Jenny Gucci (Paolo Gucci’s ex-wife). I remember reading a while ago that Paolo was jailed for not paying child support. I don’t have a strong opinion of Carney as an actor. The only thing I know him from is Penny Dreadful.

That makes sense, as Carney was announced aaaaaages ago and Tom Ford is pretty much the only notable supporting role with no one officially attached to it.
And yes Paolo was briefly jailed for non-payment of child support. He got millions from selling his shares in Gucci but ended up in massive debt and was declared bankrupt.

To anyone who read the book: excluding Patrizia, did anyone else involved in the murder-like Pina Auriemma- actually admit their guilt or did they say they had nothing to do with it? What evidence caused the authorities to arrest Patrizia? Also: If I’m not mistaken, aren’t they supposed to shoot some scenes in Florence or is Rome the last stop? I know they’re scheduled to wrap this month, but does anyone know on what day?

A-list cast with a veteran American (Scott is English I know) director based on source material that seems Oscar baity on paper yet could be entirely lacking in authenticity making it easy to mock? They both have the same release date too if that’s not an irrelevant bad sign already.
Based on a grainy, out of context, clip we don’t even know is going to be in the final film? Also the real Patrizia is extra AF – this is pretty accurate for the person she’s playing.
And of course Gaga didn’t consult with her – she’s a convicted murderer and extremely unreliable. They don’t want to be seen to be giving her the air time.

I went back and read the Star is Born thread and 95% of people in there were calling it a flop before they even filmed the movie. I see haters in here as well and it makes me chuckle because they are still so butt hurt about how wrong they were.

This film should have been made with Italian actors speaking Italian. The only thing worse than the fact that the film depicts Italian people in Italy speaking English to each other, is that it appears Gaga has decided to speak English with an Italian accent. I understand that this doesn’t bother most viewers, it’s just a pet peeve of mine.
