Ronan is fine in LB, but like Brooklyn, she lacks the proverbial Oscar scene. She won’t win the Oscar or the SAG.
For me the scene by the sink sealed the deal for me – for both her and Metcalf.
It’s a strong year. Lot of great talent. So nothing is a slam dunk but I definitely think Ronan and Metcalf deserve to be in the conversation for Best Actress and Best Supporting.November 30, 2017 at 5:08 pm #1202426279
did they announce runner ups? They used to do that.November 30, 2017 at 5:18 pm #1202426282
If Gary Oldman doesn’t win, I think it would be James Franco before Timothee Chalamet.November 30, 2017 at 5:41 pm #1202426291This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.November 30, 2017 at 5:50 pm #1202426292
Did you notice that NYFCC don’t always go for “big” films? No wonder why films like Gravity, Mad Max Fury Road and this year’s Dunkirk didn’t win.
Yeah that may be true. I get excited from these winners, but we truthfully shouldn’t be placing much stock in this awards circle.November 30, 2017 at 7:13 pm #1202426321

In the end, Ronan will like be a critics’ darling like with Brooklyn. I doubt she’ll win LAFCA though. She’ll stop winning when it comes to the Globes. I believe Robbie will win the Globe. She’s so their type. And Meryl in drama. And the real race will begin then. SAG will decide the outcome. And they’ll probably go with the actress in the most popular film.December 1, 2017 at 12:30 am #1202426426This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.December 1, 2017 at 12:37 am #1202426433This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.December 1, 2017 at 12:52 am #1202426448This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.December 1, 2017 at 12:57 am #1202426453
Mcdormand and Hawkins trains have been collided. Oh well, guess that I will be riding to Ronan train then. Meanwhile, Robbie train has been reported to be in malfunction and Streep train is still in fix.
I agree with most of this, although judging by her NBR win and consistently positive reactions to her performance, the Streep train seems to be chugging along quite nicely, about neck and neck with the Ronan train I dare say.
