I mean it’s a pretty fun list and it’s probably best not to read into it too much. I also love the Agnes Varda and Kristen Wiig inclusion.

This list is a crime against God and humanity. Burn it.

Lmfao you guys hate fun so much. Love you Brody, even if I would’ve picked 30 other performances. ♥️

It’s the way they indirectly declared Adam Driver in Girls season 1 the best TV performance of the century 💀

Trying to find positives – I like the Paquin inclusion.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

I think the Lindsay Lohan is one of my fave flexes by a critic. And a deserved-ish one imo. Even if I don’t think it’s the GREATEST, it’s highly underrated for what the job required. But of course, my list would be completely different. I would say entirely different, probably barring Helena Howard. Maybe Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Paquin, Joe Pesci, Mahershala Ali, but they’d probably be on a long list of honorable mentions.

Richard Brody is no different from Armond White. He’s an internet troll pretending to be a critic.

The two men have completely different sensibilities.

I am firmly on the ‘Leo’s Oscar should be for WoWS’ train and I need more time to formulate thoughts but on the surface this is one of the most interesting versions of this type of list I’ve seen in a while.

    Awful list, very bias

Wrong. Richard Brody actually really likes cinema. He frequently has strong opinions about the films he watches, but most of his opinions are somewhere around “meh-okay-good”. Not to mention, we’re discussing a list where he’s put performances he actually cares about: can you see Armond White putting any of the care Brody did into watching films this eclectic or international?? Armond White would find these opinions “pandering to the PC crowd”. C’mon, that’s just not fair.

If you want a lefty equivalent to White, I’d suggest AS Hamrah. He writes for n+1 and The Baffler, and holy moly he doesn’t like ANYTHING.

No list except your own will reflect what you want to see. This one has some inclusions that are very baffling, but half of the list is worthy, especially the top 4, so it’s not the worst out there.
