I was curious what she’s up to but apparently nothing was announced. I thought Oscar would bring at least some offers?
ReplyApril 10, 2021 at 9:58 am #1204189831She said she’s taking another 5 year break from film. Although weirdly enough she’s decided to do another TV show (this time on NBC) so maybe she’ll return to film projects sooner than thought.

April 10, 2021 at 10:12 am #1204189847Unless she has a personal reason behind it, that’s a wrong decision. She won’t be getting better scripts in 5 years compared to now or maybe it’s slim pickings anyway and she just lucked out with “Judy”. It’s a shame, though.

The way she’s gonna pull a DDL and win Oscar #3 in 5 years.

ReplyCopy URLApril 10, 2021 at 10:30 am #1204189883Also, maybe she just doesn’t want to work during the pandemic. Maybe she’d like to take a break. Not to mention, that the Judy type of roles doesn’t just happen to 50+ actresses on a yearly basis.

April 10, 2021 at 12:29 pm #1204190002She has two Oscars and tens of millions of dollars, plus it is literally unsafe to be outside right now. Leave her be!

Nah, she’s nowhere near revered or considered at that level.
ReplyCopy URLApril 10, 2021 at 1:59 pm #1204190487We’re in a pandemic. She’s not hellbent on booking several films requiring her to travel. We’ll never know what gigs she would have accepted had everything not gone to dog shit.
ReplyCopy URLApril 10, 2021 at 2:01 pm #1204190505Nah, she’s nowhere near revered or considered at that level.
She didn’t earn her 2nd based on popularity. A lukewarm field and a juggernaut performance with some distance from this 2nd win she’ll be back for a 3rd.
ReplyCopy URLApril 10, 2021 at 2:04 pm #1204190514She already proved that she can make a great comeback without the need of a big distributor or a well-known director. I wouldn’t be surprised if she returns to the Oscars race in the future.
ReplyCopy URLApril 10, 2021 at 2:06 pm #1204190521I wasn’t dragging her or anything. She’s one of my favorite actresses and was pretty much on top of the world for about 10 years (1996-2006) with string of very memorable performances and has been sporadically on-screen ever since then. Her comeback and another Oscar win (in Best Actress, no less) was highely unlikely even 3 years ago. As she was able to pull it off, I was excited for her and I wished her all the best. I thought maybe you’ll know more. If she wants to be protected from CO-VID – sure but then again she’s doing NBC series so that’s not really the reason. Maybe “Judy” was an exception and quality of the roles isn’t there which would be a shame. If Scorsese or Spielbierg came knocking on her door, she probably wouldn’t say: “Sorry, I have 4 years left before I’ll get back to work”.
ReplyCopy URLApril 10, 2021 at 2:48 pm #1204190618Watch her disappear again and then come back to win a third Oscar lol
ReplyCopy URLApril 10, 2021 at 2:50 pm #1204190626Lol I love the way Renee’s heartbreaking performance in Judy and her Oscar win are keeping people pressed to this day. She was the best one in that lineup people!

April 10, 2021 at 2:53 pm #1204190633She’s clearly not interested in repeating her 00’s stardom. She just want to take things slow and work in things she likes or find interesting. I respect that.
