I’ve always thought that Nicole Kidman would have been a better Roxie. I despised Renee in that role. But your right, some folks here are vicious towards her.

I love Renee, loved her in Judy, and loved her in Chicago, but I read an article saying that they almost cast Toni Collette as Roxie and H*rvey W*instein wouldn’t allow it. I’ve thought about a Toni Collette Chicago everyday since

Johansson or Ronan should have won, period.

    Nope. Period.

Yet she has two Oscars and three SAG awards (same amount as DDL)

DDL has three Oscars. And another three nominations. All in Best Actor (no supporting).

Renee Zellweger has a lot of goodwill among the general population. I think people worry for her and hope she’s doing well but she lives quite mysteriously and I personally do wonder what she does in those breaks, like on a day to day basis. Because she doesn’t have any philanthropic side gig AFAIK. In an era where we know the camel toe outline of every Kardashian and their wannabes, it’s quite refreshing but I guess frustrating that we can’t have the access we want with her.

Whatever her path, she’s fab and I hope we get to see her perform again.

She was good in Judy. It was a no brainer she was winning. Nothing spectacular but good enough to win for that weak year.

It’s more difficult for women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, etc…. Hollywood is, usually, heartless about women and they prefer women in their 20s and 30s. For example, the other day I saw 2 Time Oscar Winner Hillary Swank in a very bad and awful erotic thriller

Renee is an Icon. I am glad she won for Judy, although it may not seem like I think she was deserving. The moment I saw her in the leaked picture with near the car on the set of Judy, I said “Renee is winning BA” and many thought I was crazy.

    What pic? Show me

A little bit of Magic never hurt anybody.

probably an unpopular opinion but no one could’ve done Roxie the way Renee did. She was perfect for that role

I meant the same amount of SAG awards, though one of hers is in supporting category. My point is, she clearly has a lot more support and recognition in the industry and from her peers than people think. She’s been nominated four times for the Oscar (including a nomination for “Bridget Jones’s Diary”, a role that she will forever be remembered for), winning two times, and she would have easily had it for “Chicago” had Nicole not been in the running that season… So, her coming back in a few years and getting another Oscar nomination doesn’t seem that unlikely to me.

Renee has a new role! (via Deadline)

From the article: “Zellweger, who is coming off the Best Actress Oscar win for Judy, plays Casey Jones, who gave up a golf career so that her husband could have one. When she wakes up one morning to find her 25-year old marriage in free fall and her son off to college, she dusts off the clubs she tossed aside years ago in an effort to finally turn pro and redefine the ‘back nine’ of her life.”

pretty bleak that this is the best the incumbent lead actress winner can get. Hollywood really doesn’t care about women over 50 and it shows :/

I would pay big money to see her (i they ever do one) in a movie version of “Into The Water”. She would be a great Jules.
