James Corden has been a professional actor for the past 23 years. He even won a Tony Award in 2012 for One Man, Two Guvnors, and has been seen on the big screen in The History Boys, Begin Again, Into the Woods, and Ocean’s 8.July 18, 2019 at 11:54 am #1202983320
This is a locked nomination for Best Production Design. VFX and Song looks pretty good too. Anything more than that will be dependent on quality. Best-case includes Picture/Director/Supp. Actress/Screenplay/Cinematography/Editing, Worst-Case is only Production.July 18, 2019 at 11:59 am #1202983322
Theres a lot of ‘non actors’ in this film than real life actors
Cordon’s been acting professional since 1996 and has been Olivier nominated (Two Guvnors) and had won Tony and BAFTA (Two Guvnors and Gavin & Stacey) for acting.
That’s a hell of a lot more than 95% of most actors.July 18, 2019 at 12:03 pm #1202983324
James Corden is a professional actor and can be a pretty great one. His performance in One Man, Two Guvnors was phenomenal.
If I’m remembering correctly, there is no lead to Cats. Grizabella gets the big song, but no one is really followed for the whole musical.July 18, 2019 at 12:14 pm #1202983361

All I was trying to say was the he might not add much other than many comedic relief. I know he can sing too so maybe hell get a sequence.
I said non actor because TONS of people know him know from his talk show and could be a victim of people not taking him seriously. Then again im not expecting much out this whole thing except JHud singing Memories.July 18, 2019 at 2:09 pm #1202983627

I dont know about this. Im on the fence on this one. Still cant over judi dench being in this. One thing is for sure the HFPA is gonna love this.July 18, 2019 at 2:17 pm #1202983658
It looks much better than I pictured.July 18, 2019 at 2:19 pm #1202983665
At first, I was scared.
But after watching it two/three times, it kinda looks good(?)July 18, 2019 at 2:26 pm #1202983675
It looks so creepy. Also designs of Macavity and Rum Tum Tugger are so disappointing.July 18, 2019 at 2:28 pm #1202983680
Jennifer Hudson at least sounds like she’ll knock “Memory” out of the park. But whether her performance will be good enough to win her another Oscar like Les Miserables did for Anne Hathaway remains to be seen. Obviously the character designs will probably garner an Oscar nomination for Best Visual Effects, but I’m curious as to whether the look is all CGI and motion capture, or a combination of that plus makeup, because I’m curious as to whether it’ll even be eligible for Best Makeup & Hairstyling now that the category is finally being expanded to 5 nominees.July 18, 2019 at 2:28 pm #1202983682
The visual effect looked kinda okay except for JHud when she’s singing, surprisingly little screen time for Taylor here considering she’s supposed to have a new song and everything, I still think this is gonna be a gigantic messJuly 18, 2019 at 2:29 pm #1202983686

At least this makes up for her having to drop out of the original stage production due to an injury.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantJuly 18, 2019 at 2:38 pm #1202983697
There were some good things about the trailer, but it was a mess overall.
