Here’s a featurette on ‘Beautiful Ghosts’, which is a new song written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Taylor Swift just for the film.

The movie will actually end up missing a lot of deadlines this awards season.

I saw another trailer for this at a movie yesterday. It was cleaned up some from the one that dropped a couple of months ago, but still a mess. It was a very strange combination of creepy and silly.

It’s hard for me to imagine getting over the bizarre Uncanny Valley feeling I get from the trailer, where they’re not remotely convincing as cats-cats but also can’t be mistaken for anything more “theatrical” that allows your imagination to fill in the blanks. From a design perspective, it’s godawful and it’s impossible to see this as being a box office hit (especially around Xmas), which would at least make the film impossible to ignore on the awards circuit.

I think we all know the only nominations this has a shot at are the ones for original song, regardless of the box office. it’s going to be near impossible for anyone to be able to look past just how creepy the whole thing is

Though I could see a possible nomination for Best Production Design.

I agree with Filmatelist, I struggle to see this being a box office success. While Cats was originally very successful, it’s popularity has waned in recent years, and many people seem to think of the show as a joke. The trailer also got hit with so much backlash, so it’s unlikely many people are going to be interested based off of that, outside of a few viewers who will just want to laugh at it. And while they have several big names acting in the film, they all look like terrifying CG cats, so that could end up turning off fans of these performers from seeing it. Moving back towards the trailer, the only other trailers that I can think of that got similar levels of hate directed towards them were the Ghostbusters reboot and the Sonic the Hedgehog trailer. Since Sonic hasn’t been released yet, we can’t use that as a solid example, but we can use Ghostbusters, which ended up being a big bomb (it made more than its budget, but when you add in all the money that the studio used in advertisements, it was a financial failure). I’m not an expert when it comes to numbers, money, or box office, but I think this has the signs of a financial disaster, in addition to the signs of being a critical dud. It’s a shame. I’m not overtly familiar with Cats, but maybe a film adaptation could’ve worked. But as soon as everyone saw those hideous designs, I think it was all over.

It’s definitely sounding like it’s time to change that litter.

I think the people who will end up seeing Cats in movie theaters will probably have some sort of curiosity factor. While the first trailer did receive a lot of backlash on the internet, all publicity is still good publicity. Though with that being said, Cats is still going to be opening the exact same weekend as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Regarding the Sonic movie, they revised the visual appearance of Sonic close to the original one and fuck it’s the biggest lit up of the year. I would hope they would do the same with Cats considering the potential it has.

Darlings, I can’t wait to see this! Cat Derulo, CatSwift and Cat Hudson with Cat McKellen and Cat Dench. It really is a cohesive ensemble. And the CGI looks just flawless! I’m sure this is going to win Best Picture. And Cat Swift is a lock for Supporting Actress. Barbra Streisand who? A masterpiece. I can smell it.

As a famous singer said, "ain't nobody gonna Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher!"

I just watched Six Degrees of Separation (1993) for the first time this past week and burst out laughing when the mentioned Cats.
