Nervous about its quality since Coogler didn’t write nor direct this.

I for once am excited about it because it’s gonna be a sequel to my favorite Rocky movie. Rocky IV is the best one in the series. Lundgren is back and from what I’ve heard there’s gonna be a surprise cameo by Nilsen. Her Ludmila was so deliciously campy. I just wish they would have finally at least mentioned Apollo’s other kids. You know the ones that weren’t bastards.

And one of my favorite line readings comes from Rocky IV:

Really liked the first one, looking forward to this. Would also love to hear songs as good as last movie’s Grip and Shed You on this go-around’s soundtrack.

I feel the exact same way. He was the key ingredient that made the first Creed movie work. Also, in case it wasn’t obvious by now Coogler + Jordan = Greatness.

Can anyone guess why Jordan wasn’t nominated for an Oscar the first time around?

I thought I would be worried about Coogler’s absence in this film.

But then the cast stuck around in totality, which should never be taken as a given, and that gave me hope.

Then I saw this trailer… and yeah, I’m pretty much in. I know the editing of an advertisement is often not reflective of the film that follows, but I’ll say it gives me comfort that the team behind this one seems to “get” what a second chapter to this story needs to look like. The inclusion of Ivan Drago’s son could feel like a gimmick; maybe some here think it is. But in a series that has built itself up around themes like chosen family and legacy, the idea that a son gets revenge for his father through the son of the man who killed him is compelling. It also gives plenty of characters a reason to be worried. What if history repeats itself?

And heck, while I’m stopped here, I actually appreciate that Coogler didn’t come back out of obligation. He wanted to tip his hat to the franchise and pay tribute to his dad; he’s done that now, and I respect a director who steps away when they’re done.
