This looks so good. The first one was a wonderful surprise, and this one looks to be better in every way. The shot of Caesar finding the video camera in his old home and watching his younger self with James Franco is surprisingly powerful.

When I made my most anticipated movie list in January, this was my #1 of the year. The trailers since then have just got me more excited. This new one is great, and I’m just guessing it’s playing before Godzilla in theatres?

I’m not sure how many of us have seen the ’68 and beyond sequels but I’m hoping that this one does the $ame. The technology has certainly changed but hopefully the spirit of those films remains unchanged.

Those earlier Apes films play so ‘camp’ to me now. Try watching all of them one after the other at an all-nighter theatre. People started walking like simians when going for popcorn.

^I once watched all 5 in succession, but then they put on the Tim Burton one, and I left. I would say that even Battle, which was my least favourite, was better than that awful remake. I did enjoy Rise though, which spurred my enthusiasm for the upcoming one.

Lol! I tried to like the Burton version. I really did. What did you think of Estella Warren btw? I dont think I’ve seen anything like that since Ariane in Year of the Dragon.

I’m looking forward too this because I loved Rise of the Planet of Apes (too many of the’s in title) and hope Matt Reeves does a good job like Rupert Wyatt.

Honestly, I always find that when they get a model to act in a film, I have to just tolerate that the acting will be sub-par. It definitely wasn’t my biggest complaint about the film (the screenplay would be) but she definitely brought it down. Haven’t seen Year of the Dragon, but if it’s being compared to her, I’m guessing it’s not an Oscar-level performance?
The one time I found that a model was actually good was Analeigh Tipton in Crazy, Stupid, Love. But that might just be a freak occurrence.

I’ll raise you another: Yaya Alafia. She has been in ‘The Kids Are All Right’ (as Mark Ruffalo’s girlfriend/friend with benefits), ‘The Messenger’ (as a grieving young widow), and most recently ‘The Butler’ (as Carol, David Oyelowo’s Black Panther girfriend). In ‘The Messenger’ especially she was excellent.

^Was she originally a model? I had no idea! Then yes, she has definitely shown that she has acting talent, I’ve been very impressed by how she can make a small role her own, and be memorable. I hope she starts getting bigger parts, so she can really show her talent.

Both of those women were on America’s Next top Model.

Yes! I think both ladies are talented, and I agree with ET that Yaya deserves some higher profile roles. She has a gift, as ET said, of making small parts stand out by making them her own.

It was especially bad for her because everyone else in the film is so damned good. Highly recommended. Btw, as an Asian by descent, I didnt feel “stereotyped” by Year of the Dragon one little bit. Underappreciated 80’s film at the height -of Mickey Rourke’s career.

Keri Russell’s connection with Matt Reeves could be a very good thing for Dawn/Apes. Ariane and Warren she is not. Lol.

    Trailer Verdict: Hated it.

(It’s one of those trailers that pretty much sums up the entire movie.)

Also, looks like underwhelming casting (again) except for the great Andy Serkis, of course.
