The early reviews I’ve seen on Twitter so far have been uniformly positive. It’s great to see.

I want this to leak before Christmas. Arc Light Hollywood is essentially 20 dollars to see this. And The Landmark isn’t an easy theater to get to if you don’t live near by.

This is a film the one film this year you should pay a ticket to see

Do you my experience seeing Inherent Vice? I saw Inherent Vice for free at the Egyptian in LA. It was the earliest gala screening for cast and crew. Paul was there did a mega brief introduction and the movie played with a pristine 35 mm print. You’d think all the royal details would have made the movie on first viewing more enjoyable. But the movie itself is a delicate and challenging exercise of cinema.

If the presence of cast and crew and the best possible screening conditions didn’t make me like the movie more spending 20 dollars without the extra seems too tall an order.

I am shocked by all these critics nominations its getting. I’m still sure that when it will come to the Academy voters it will fall away but I simply do not get why critics are rewarding the film. It like the last few Anderson films beautiful looking but the screenplay is nonsense. What are people doing?

Paul Thomas Anderson is a respected director and writer who, arguably, hasn’t made a single bad film, he is working with a (highly) respected cast and a very capable crew on the last film of the only person who has won thrice the Oscar for Best Actor. Still shocked?

I completely agree. I saw this, this past weekend and it was ridiculous. I would sooner rename this Alma and the Poisonous Mushroom, because the screenplay in the last act is just absurdist.  That being said I do think Lewis tried his hardest to make this happen. His performance is good but I think he is weighed down by a poor film. I would put him somewhere on Hanks level in this award cycle – it’s lived in, and it has it’s high marks and moments, but doesn’t quite transcend to an impactful statement or have a uniquely human condition to emulate. I would say Day Lewis is the only star in this picture and the only thing worth noticing.
