Why wasn’t Krieps nominated? She outshined both Manville and Day-Lewis. Her subtle and nuanced performance is easily the best part of the entire film and the only one that stuck with me. She’s the one that stands out and the real star of the movie.

Phantom Thread came out too late in the game to boost such an unknown newcomer like Krieps. Look at Kaluuya and Chalamet- each had 10 mo. of hype at their backs that helped them get in, though actor was a weaker category than actress this year.

I agree though, I would’ve love to see her nominated.

    Sorry, Desplat

Desplat has an Oscar already and has not earned frontrunner status with his subpar work in “Shape”. You should not feel sorry lol! Greenwood is overdue and should win; I’m hoping he pulls it off at Bafta and gets a boost.

I saw it last week and I’m glad that Manville got nominated. She was wonderful in it.

I would also definitely give Meryl’s spot to Vicky Krieps, and nominate the screenplay.
