According to IndieWire, this movie is too long and not everyone will love it.

    Sounds perfect to me.

First impressions aren’t always how a movie will shape up in the end. I remember one of the first reviews for Frozen saying it was overly forgettable and none of the songs would make it into the popular lexicon.

May the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows.

Silence is my most anticipated film of the year. I expect it to be nothing but absolutely amazing. Martin Scorsese has never disappointed me.

The Wolf of Wall Street was too long and not everybody loved it. Major key, important, nominations for a lot of people.

The Aviator was too long and not everybody loved it. Plenty of nominations for everybody.

Gangs of New York was too long and not everybody loved it. Way too many nominations.

Casino was too long and not everybody loved it. Poor showing, but still.

The Revenant was too long and not everybody loved it. We know how that turned out and how it could’ve turned out.

Silence doesn’t have the most exciting story and if it’s too long on top of that it might hurt it, but still. Plenty of boring movies have done a lot of business and won top Oscars.

    We’ll see…

Trust me, Scorsese could easily blow Gibson out of the water.

Um yeah, Gibson ain’t getting diddly-squat this awards season. Maybe a random Golden Satelite nod though!

There have been long movies of Scorsese’s that were divisive. I love The Wolf of Wall Street, though Gangs of New York was terrible.

It’s difficult for me to wrap my brain around an “anti-AmericanSniper” film coming from Mel Gibson.
Better that, than the subject matter of Scorsese’s film, for me.

Whatever length is Silence, long or otherwise, isn’t an issue for me, as long as it doesn’t put me to sleep. Ran, is one of my favorite films of all time. Short, it isn’t.
Scorsese is one of my all-time favorites, but to be frank, I’d rather see bullet-ridden corpses in another one of his films (with Mick Jagger crooning in the background), than Silence.

It’s funny to me Scorsese makes hardcore movies but in interviews he seems very calm unlike Tarantino who is an asshole.

Gibson has won the Hollywood director award for the Hollywood film awards this year for his magnificent work with hacksaw ridge. He is a huge threat to beat Scorsese

You seriously think whoever wins the Hollywood Film Award for Best Director will automatically win the Oscar?! Give me a freaking break!! Whoever win the Directors Guild of America Award is the biggest predictor of the Oscar. Compare their winners to the Oscar winners and you’ll see what I mean, because the DGA and AMPAS have a lot of the same members.

I do believe silence and hacksaw ridge will split the oscars. Silence wins best picture while Mel Gibson takes director seeing how he had a fantastic year

And how exactly has Mel Gibson had a fantastic year? Yes I know his recent film Blood Father got good reviews, but critics reviewed it as a fun, guilty pleasure film, not serious art. And until we get more critics reviews for Hacksaw Ridge and see the box office results as well as the awards response, then we’ll know for sure just whether or not Mel Gibson had a truly fantastic year. I get that you worship at Gibson’s feet, but seriously, look at the awards race from all angles here.

I’m sorry, but I don’t see how you can call yourself a true Scorsese fan if you love his violent films but find ones like Silence boring. If you want to see what a true Scorsese fan looks like, look at Roger Ebert.
