“Canceled” became such an annoying buzzword, similar to “fake news” from the early Trump era. People are gonna complain about the casting, but people always complain about casting for major properties, no-one is canceling Spielberg.July 27, 2021 at 4:57 pm #1204366676
As a Jew who loves WSS, look there are some interesting notions here. Jews in the arts have given countless platforms to various groups, largely with respect, but times have changed and GenZ has been blooded. Can you cancel Steven Spielberg? I’m tired.July 27, 2021 at 7:22 pm #1204366898

“In the Heights” is mediocrity at its best. Even the songs in it give me GLEE impression. I think WWS can easily win over it.
As for the others, I agree with you, especially “tick, tick…Boom!” 🙂

This looks more like community theatre than a high budget Spielberg remake.
"Shiva Baby" – in all categories especially Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Score

"CODA" – in all categories especially Supporting Actor (Troy Kotsur)
"Everybody's Talking About Jamie" – Supporting Actor (Richard E. Grant), Supporting Actress (Sarah Lancashire)
"I'm Your Man" – International Feature
"Summer of Soul" – Documentary FeatureAugust 7, 2021 at 8:20 am #1204385569September 14, 2021 at 5:16 pm #1204460035
Wouldn’t be surprised to see this get a last minute screening at NYFF, which takes place where the original film was set and parts were filmed, which seems like a historical thing Spielberg is really into and would want as a narrative for a “premiere.” He also brought Lincoln to NYFF last minute and then Bridge of Spies (also screenwriter Tony Kushner lives in that area I think).September 15, 2021 at 5:43 am #1204460819
Looks fun. DeBose looks good and stood out the most to me in the trailer. With that said, the accents seem extremely exaggerated. It’s quite distracting. We’ll see.September 15, 2021 at 5:57 am #1204460829

Interesting of you to say that because the musical’s original book writer, Arthur Laurents, famously hated the 1961 film adaptation. One of the problems he had with it was that he thought the accents were “bogus”.
