    ✔️ Biopic
    ✔️ Girl power
    ✔️ Baity material
    ✔️ Advantageous release date

I love Saoirse and was excited for MQoS but this feels like a stronger contender at this point. I’m iffy on the choice of Felicity for RBG though.

The director has me concerned. But this also is the Kathy Bates vehicle with the best chance to secure her an elusive fourth nomination and third overall in supporting actress.

Hmm, she has 8 Emmy noms and 3 DGA noms for ER including 2 Emmy wins. Seems like she’s a veteran at this?

considering Focus Features overperformance last year with Victoria and Abdul getting any nominations and Phantom Thread + Darkest Hour getting way more than just actor and a tech nom, could see Focus Features running a super aggressive campaign for this.

I don’t care about what I’ve heard about this movie feeling like a tv movie but not in a good way. It has the composer from Life of Pi, the director and one of the stars of The Leftovers’ series finale, and Jyn Erso in the lead role. I’m honestly excited for this one and I hope it does RBG (who apparently saw the film already and loved it according to Mimi Leder) some serious cinematic justice.

For your Goldderby Film Awards consideration: Isle of Dogs for every category, especially Music Score for Alexandre Desplat!

She also directed Deep Impact, Pay it Forward and hasn’t directed a film in many years. Her last one, 10 years ago I believe, was extremely forgotten, I don’t think it even got a proper release.

She has an amazing tv career, but that doesn’t always translate to a great film. She has proved that, and many others too.

Mimi Leder is the biggest reason why I’m interested in the movie.

Plenty of directors make some shit movies before finally hitting it big. Look at John Krasinski as a recent example, where his feature film directorial efforts were received as just mediocre until he struck gold with A Quiet Place. Mimi Leder is clearly a talented director, she just needs to be paired up with a script deserving of her talents. If On The Basis Of Sex has a great script, then I don’t see why she can’t deliver a great film.

Same here! I actually think Deep Impact is very underappreciated, so I’m excited that Mimi Leder has been given another feature film.

Looking at her rotten tomatoe, Her filmography ratings are a Cara Delivigne mess, saved by her TV catalogue, but I guess she can’t hit any lower lol…

guess it’s a comeback if this hits fresh, which from word of mouth and the internet makes it seem like this shouldn’t be too bad, especially if a Focus Features doesn’t want to take full advantage of the Lady Bird leftover love for Saoirse and leaving that on the back burner to push back that for Felicity lol (and Hammer/CMBYN to a degree)

I think it’s telling that Focus moved MQOS to December in order to give OTBOS their November slot. They could have easily given the film a December release a la Phantom Thread or even October and been fine. I think this is noteworthy given that the studio, in particular, is really effective at getting nominations, especially acting nods + wins from their November releases. So, until further notice with regards to reviews of the film as a whole (word is that the script is solid), I think acting nominations for Felicity and Armie isn’t out of the realm of possibility, especially if the film manages to get over a 70 Metacritic score. Everything seems to be good on paper and one can envision multiple narratives that could propel it during awards season.

Could you imagine Hollywood’s excitement of RBG walking the red carpet and sitting at the front table with Meryl at the Globes? I dont think HFPA would turn down that opportunity lol.

Where is the Armie Hammer love I would love to see him get a supporting nom this year. He was so close last year. It would be amazing to see him and Chalamet duking it out 🙂
