Very tv movish. Felicity’s accent is very distracting. The acting looks average at best. Armie Hammer looks meh as usual. No indications of any awards potential. Maybe Theroux?July 16, 2018 at 10:40 am #1202587695
Well this looks pretty bad. The music in the trailer was so distracting, the movie itself looks like it’s made for TV, and that poster is a mess. Only keeping Jones in my top 5 until reviews because she’s playing RBG.July 16, 2018 at 11:06 am #1202587711
For the choice of director to the handling of the trailer and one sheet this whole thing is a mess.

The trailer was… underwhelming. The release date and the theme might help it, but I don’t see it being a serious contender.July 16, 2018 at 4:59 pm #1202588293
doesn’t look good. Really looks like a bad tv movie….July 16, 2018 at 5:14 pm #1202588313
Trailer was terrible but you can’t take too much away from the trailer, just a music change would have made it way better. Jones does look like a contender. I didn’t realize Mimi Leder was directing this. I know her prior film work isn’t great but I’m excited to see how she does after her amazing work on the leftovers

And to think Natalie Portman was up for it and they ended up with Felicità…
Natalie would’ve been perfect in this role…very tragiqué.
Yes she would. That’s the problem with Natalie. She’s always up for something then drops out. I still believe she would be better Laura than Penélope. Don’t get me wrong I like Cruz but Laura should feel like the most innocent woman in the world. Imagine the scene where Malkina caresses Laura at the pool. It was titillating when Cameron did that to Penélope. But if she did that to Natalie it would feel predatory which is what it should be. God, I really like Natalie but here choices are dreadful most of the time.
It took me a while to figure out what movie you were talking about. I can’t think of another movie that made as little of a dent in people’s consciousness that gets talked about on this forum as much as this one does.July 17, 2018 at 11:51 am #1202588970
Anyone who questions Mimi Leder did not watch The Leftovers, which makes me question them. Having said that, what is with the soap opera lighting in this trailer? The move out of November was concerning.
