Ben-Adir’s portrayal of Malcolm X is a nuanced and layered depiction of a very complex figure. Instead of going over the top, his performance allows the viewer to feel grounded in reality.
Despite Malcolm’s intense political, religious, & social leanings, he was still a father, a husband, and an actual human being with emotions.

January 15, 2021 at 10:57 pm #1203986032I looooove this film. All four were outstanding but Odom Jr. stood out to me the most. Ben-Adir and Hodge was very good as well. I enjoyed Goree as well. Crazy how this is Regina’s directorial debut cuz she MF slayed.

January 16, 2021 at 12:06 am #1203986057Loved “One Night in Miami” and the performances were fantastic. The 4 main actors were wonderful but the standouts were Kingsley Ben-Adir who is a definite contender for Best Actor and Leslie Odom Jr is definitely landing a Supporting Nom. I see it getting several noms…
Likely Noms:

Director
Supporting Actor (Leslie Odom Jr)

CinematographyJanuary 16, 2021 at 12:58 am #1203986118I need to see this a second time. I have no confidence in award season to do justice to this movie. But whatever nods it manages on Oscar morning will be worthy.

I can’t believe a “just good enough” movie like this has 98% on RT.January 16, 2021 at 12:38 pm #1203986730Must be really getting into more subtle performances because imo Aldis Hodge was the best by far. Understated yet powerful and authentic. I think Ben-Adir is overpraised and Odom was fine. He’ll get that nom.

I can’t believe a “just good enough” movie like this has 98% on RT.Those are exactly the type of movies that do well at Oscars. Can’t have a movie spit too many truths or take too many risks or you’ll be “divisive”.
