They could probably give out three or four awards during the live presentation instead of performing the songs. Just do a quick medley of the songs before announcing the award. I can’t believe original song is going to be televised live and not best original score. The score is more important to a film than just the one song. By far. Get a grip Academy.
ReplyCopy URLLife is a thin thread.
We hang on tightly knowing
it will snap one day.March 23, 2022 at 5:27 pm #1204872019“Dos Oruguitas” will win and I’d be very happy with that. It is actually perfection in the film. It’s not a beginning title song or an end title song, but it’s a song that is ESSENTIAL to the film and really communicates a beautiful message… Plus it’s Lin Manuel Miranda’s time….
Ranking likelihood of winning:
1. Dos Oruguitas
2. No Time to Die
3. Be Alive
4. Somehow You Do
5. Down to JoyBut on a side note, you know Beyonce’s performance is gonna be amazing and the best of the nominees…. If she had been campaigning and performing the song elsewhere, she could’ve had a better shot at winning.
Score… Um, Dune? with an Encanto spoiler…

For the song, I don’t know. I bet they give it indeed to Encanto. I wasn’t crazy about the songs this year.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 25, 2022 at 8:35 am #1204875411F it. I’m at the point where I’m literally gonna flip a coin for the Song category. I’ve gone back and forth a hundred times between Encanto and No Time To Die and no matter which wins I’ll kick myself if I went with the wrong one.
It would honestly be a relief if Be Alive won so at least I can be completely off.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 25, 2022 at 5:22 pm #1204876311Either Be Alive or No Time to Die will win Best Original Song.
Either Dune or The Power of the Dog will win Best Score.
Interestingly, I like Belfast’s song and Encanto’s score most, even though I don’t like any of the songs and scores this year.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 28, 2022 at 12:30 am #1204884819Yay Billie & FINNEAS! Never wavered from them, since the only song that could beat them was unsubmitted “Bruno,” not “Dos Oruguitas.” LMM can EGOT later lol.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 28, 2022 at 2:09 am #1204884977imagine betting against Billie when she swept the grammys. no time to die absolutely would have crushed we don’t talk about bruno too.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 28, 2022 at 3:40 am #1204885062Billie killed it yesterday. Truly the best performance of the best song from the best movie out of the nominees. Every single other result would have been awful. Especially since Lin wasn’t even present and couldn’t have accepted his EGOT-completing Oscar in person.

March 28, 2022 at 4:16 am #1204885114So Billie Eilish still won in the end in spite of the song being first released two years ago?

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")

It’s almost like the song was always undeniable and the biggest competing movie had its 5th-best song nominated, isn’t it! Agatha All Along vs. something from Bo Burnham’s Inside all over again.

March 28, 2022 at 7:03 am #1204885502Can’t believe Hans Zimmer FINALLY won his second Oscar.

Should have won for Inception, Interstellar and Gladiator as well. Maybe even Dunkirk.
But at least he has a second one nowMarch 29, 2022 at 10:02 am #1204888120I understand Lin Manuel had a nice narrative, but Billie won every possible award before. This one was already hers when the song was released…
ReplyCopy URLMarch 29, 2022 at 10:15 am #1204888152Billie had this the moment Bruno wasn’t submitted, Dos Oruguitas was easily the weakest Encanto song.
