Blame CAnada is a comedy song and it got nominated
Same with the Lego Song too.
And we can see one of the songs from “Enchanted” was a comedic one…

With JHud’s SAG nom for Best Actress, it’s safe to say the odds of “Here I Am” in BOS just improved as well — possibly the fifth consecutive year with a dual acting & songwriting nominee. The question still is how far can it go in a crowded shortlist with three distinct frontrunners — “No Time to Die”, “Be Alive”, and “Dos Oruguitas” (the “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” mess only helps it here) — plus a Diane Warren nom that would be inevitable in any other year.

NTTD did great on BAFTA longlists and Billie’s doc got shortlisted once again, poor Billie doubters.

Billie Eyelash is so overrated. Feel free to attack me.

The following lineup would check the boxes of several recurring BOS trends:

    • Disney + Lin-Manuel Miranda: “Dos Oruguitas”
    • Acting/Songwriting Double Nods: “Here I Am” (JHud is coming for BA)
    • Duet performed by Significant Others on screen: “Just Look Up”
    • Bond Theme: “No Time To Die”
    • Diane Warren: “Somehow You Do”

I still can’t believe that a original song that was released on the radio before the film and is over a year old is a contender for the Oscar

How relevant is still “Be Alive” in this race? I see no buzz around this song at all – Beyonce herself didn’t promote it and I see no one talking about it, it is so weird considering how bad she’s been trying to get an Oscar in the past years.

On the other hand, we have soundtracks having a huge buzz as Encanto, even Ariana’s one has been talked about more than “Be Alive”.

Anyway, I think this is award goes to Billie undoubtedly.

Just Look Up stole its hype honestly.

Beyonce wants the Oscar but it seems like she feels she’s above campaigning for one. Ariana didn’t mind campaigning and now she’s being mentioned as a possible frontrunner. Encanto’s success has been organic without campaigning. Billie has a Bond theme song. Had Beyonce come down from her golden tower to campaign, she may’ve very well increased her chances.

I agree. I think that might be her biggest mistake, and sadly if she doesn’t get a nomination people will say Oscar has snubbed her like they said about “Spirt” (and Spirt was even more promoted).

I don’t think the song is that strong itself to survive the lack of buzz/promo. I would not be surprised if she doesn’t get a nomination at the end.

There might be already No Time to Die, Dos Oruguitas, Dont Look Up and most likely Somehow You Do (for Diane Warren).

Be Alive’s chances relies totally on the success of the film as a whole with the industry. So King Richard‘s campaign makes the song in conversation, tho it might not be as strong as expected.
Same case with Just Look Up, but that film had such a positive audience and industry reaction so far it could be safer for a nod.

An yeah the winner is clear, its a favorite for over an year for a hugely sucessful film in a beloved franchise and its campaign been also steady and going.

FYC: Memoria and House of Gucci for Best Picture
