Harriet has to be considered a film that had Oscar buzz, but got a cold critical reception.

Yeah I do agree, but the leading lady in Harriet is still in the running, according to experts, to be nominated for best actress

I’d add Ad Astra, this had hype since last year now MC has fallen down to a 77. It’ll get some techs but it will be lucky to match Flop Man.

Also Motherless Brooklyn with a 62MC which sounds high considering some of the reactions from TIFF.

    Aeronauts is a nonevent with a 73MC and no1curr

Hidden Life with a 76MC was supposed to be Malik’s big comeback that wasnt.

Its almost worse to be mediocre than to crash and burn.

Ad Astra and A Hidden Life are top 10 of the year, at least, so I refuse to give up hope just yet.

Consider me a Tarantino Fanboy but this is increasing OUATIH chances at awards next year tbh.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Us is dead. No buzz since its release.</p>

Oscars 2021: I support Denis Villeneuve (Dune), David Fincher (Mank), Willem Dafoe (The Card Counter), and Glenn Close (Hillbilly Elegy).

    Movie-lover overall.

Yeah, that Erivo nomination keeps looking less and less likely.

This isn’t quite the same nature as all the critical bombs in this thread, but remember Late Night? Sundance film, a little bit of Oscar buzz, Amazon paid 13 million for distribution rights (!), and spent 35 million in marketing money (!!), and then only got 15.5 million in box office (!!!).

    Yeah that crashed and burned.
