    The Personal History of David Copperfield

    This one is a 2020 in the making?

    It is a shame but Harriet sounds like a botched killer project. I would be surprised if it got any nominations.

    What are the critics saying about Harriet?

    Darling, it had a very cold reception. They say it’s just a boring formulaic biopic. Nothing that wasn’t expected.

    As a famous singer said, "ain't nobody gonna Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher!"

    Ah that is unfortunate. Boring and formulaic. Not the best compliment

    Does Portrait of a Lady on Fire count, since France decided to pick Les Miserables instead for their nomination? Amazon payolad pushed Les Miserables to be the candidate, and the Academy isn’t going to recognize the outstanding performances of Portrait of a Lady on Fire.

    The whole thing sounds like studio politics. But as someone has mention earlier, Portrait did not do so well in France as Les Miserables. So

    Lucy In The Sky is just an embarrassing failure. Never seen something bomb quite so spectacularly before.

    I don’t think I’d characterise that as Crashed and Burned yet. It’s certainly not a frontrunner any more, but I can see it sneaking a performance or screenplay nod. This thread is for completely not getting one nomination films.

    it’s 17th in BP, 8th in Best Supporting Actor, and 10th in Original Screenplay. It’s going to need a lot more than “sneaking” to appear in any category.

    let it go

    Waves has neither crashed nor burned and anyone who thinks that is sorely misguided. Just because it didn’t win an audience award at TIFF doesn’t mean it’s not competitive.. Lady Bird and Moonlight didn’t win one either. The film still has better reviews than a few of the films in the top ten and while it’s lost a lot of steam since Telluride, Sterling K. Brown is a formidable threat in Supporting Actor

    I know right

    The complete dismissal of Waves just because it wasn’t top 3 is stupid. Moonlight wasn’t in the top 3 either while Beale Street was a runner up. Now tell me again which one had more heat during the award season

    Sterling is getting the nom and will compete, bookmark
