Her Oscar clip is the proof.

What Oscar clip? She’s just shown smiling for one second https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_b5xav1jls (at 1:28). That’s basically all Jackie Weaver did in SLP: smiling and have sort of a frantic nervousness. Sure, it was cute for the film, but in no way would have cracked my list for supporting actress. Helen Hunt (in an amazing, underrated, under-appreciated performance) and Sally Field were both aces that year, along with Adams and the winner, Hathaway.

To this day I do not know how The Dresser was nominated in Picture and Director. It’s pretty much a filmed play and the fact that it got so much love over bigger releases like Silkwood and Yentl makes no sense. I can see both of the actors getting in because of the weak field and maybe Adapted Screenplay but nothing more.

Alicia Fraudkander in Supporting Actress for Danish Girl. So ridiculous when even the BAFTA and Golden Globes didn’t fall for that shit and she had no other movie/co-star that would prevent her from campaigning lead. Not to mention both lead and supporting races were dreadful, she could’ve easily gotten double noms as evident by GG + BAFTA and not have a post-Oscar win embarrassing trajectory that shows she was the wrong choice for the type of win they hope their ingenue girl would have.

but she stopped desperate Winslet from winning a second one so that’s something.

Olivia Colman TF. This is all Gaga’s fault thought i rather blame Colman. Had Gaga went Comedy/Musical at the GG, she would have stop Colman Express. Close would have eventually win the CC by her own, then the SAG, and the Oscar. Colman would have been pretty fine with the critics circles awards she has won prior to the awards season and the BAFTA. Also she should have gone supporting where she actually belonged.

I do wonder Stone or Weisz had competed in lead if they would manage to win.

If Colman went supporting I think she would’ve beat King there.

Gaga winning the globe would have also meant getting the CC, SAG and the oscar.

Not necessarily. Had Gaga went Comedy, she would have won the GG and comedy CC. Close’s speech would have made the difference between them, and the rest is called sweeping.
