Charlene Swankie, Bo Burnham and the duo Olivia Cooke and Paul Raci come to mind. I can’t see any Lead performance that could overcome that hurdle this year.
I would also mention Rylance but I’m pretty positive right now that he gets in at BAFTA, especially because I’m predicting Raci to miss there.

    FYC:

Lead Actor: Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round)

Supporting Actress: Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm)

Supporting Actor: Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)

Eh I don’t know. It’s very hard for complete unknowns or newcomers to get nominated nowadays unless you have undeniable buzz or are mentioned in every awards speech like Yalitza Aparicio.

I believe Morton did get in at CC but missed out on the others.

That’s also what made Marcia Gay Harden’s win all the more impressive in 2000 since she got in at none of the televised awards.

William Hurt’s one scene nomination is legendary.
