Brian Tyree Henry is the first lone supporting actor nominee of a film since Tom Hanks in A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood in 2019. He is also the first actor to receive their maiden Oscar nomination as a sole nominee for their film in this category since Stanley Tucci in The Lovely Bones in 2009.

I believe Kaluuya for Get Out, it opened in the US before the previous years Oscar’s were even held. Opened Feb 24, Moonlight won Best Picture two days later on Feb 26.

And she’ll most likely lose it, so maybe that’ll be another record? Plus her own record of being the Academy’s biggest “loser.”

The first one is Laura Dern whose parents are Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd. I may have missed so please correct me if ever

It also became first best picture winning film with three acting wins.
Guillermo del Toro became the first director with best picture and best animated feature Oscar wins. He was also nominated for best international feature.
Diane Warren didn’t win an Oscar sixth year in a row tying Edith Head’s record.
