Which actors/actresses owe their wins to Weinstein’s excessive self-promotion within the Academy? Would they have won had Weinstein not utilized said tactics?

Juliette Binoche has two career Oscar nods for Weinstein vehicles. The bulk of nods for Judi Dench are for Weinstein vehicles.

Wasn’t Shakespeare In Love wins a product of Weinstein?

    Gwyneth winning was horrible.

Holly Hunter would have definitely won, regardless of Weinstein’s involvement.

Nothing engineered about Holly’s win. She and The Piano were the little engine that could next to Spielberg’s juggernaut.

If Schindler’s List hadn’t of happened, The Piano would have won Picture and Director on top of everything else. We would have had the first female Director winner. Oh well.

I’m reading Lauren Bacall’s memoirs and in it, she talks about how all of her friends (and the industry) were convinced she was a lock in The Mirror Has Two Faces but, all along, Bacall had a terrible feeling the Miramax machine would win out. She was right.

THE OSCAR 100 (#50-46): Ingrid Bergman, James Coburn, Nick Nolte, Joan Allen and Anthony Hopkins
