June 21, 2018 at 8:10 am #1202570442White Michelle would have never beaten Portman. So when would she have won her first of two Sasha?

This still blows my mind she has an Oscar nod. Don’t get the appeal of her performance at all

THE OSCAR 100 (#50-46): Ingrid Bergman, James Coburn, Nick Nolte, Joan Allen and Anthony Hopkins

Gotta disagree on that one. I think it should have been Uma Thurman.

She should have been nominated but for Bride of Chucky. One of the best performances of 90s.
I never liked that movie tbh. Barely made it through the whole thing.

I don’t care about Williams. She could stay oscarless for all I care. She only interested me when she was playing Jen on DC.
As for the first black one. Everyone knows it should have been Whoopi but then one of the best actresses in history would die oscarless. And as for why only one black actress won leading golden dildo, it’s because Hollywood doesn’t cast them in movies worthy of their talents. The only black actress I would have nominated in leading actress category last decade is Emayatzy Corinealdi in Middle of Nowhere (I am probably the only person who has seen it). If it wasn’t for Riva I would have awarded her. On, and probably would have nominated Negga.I’ve seen Middle of Nowhere and she was indeed great…
But Viola should have nominated and won for Fences in LEADING.
IMO, Taraji should have been nominated for Hidden Figures.

Guess I agree with this, RR is so much better than The Reader plus her performance is light years ahead. Not to mention the ridiculous category-fraud everywhere else.
As for Hunter, that performance towers over most, if not all the lead actresses who have won since then!
ReplyCopy URLJune 24, 2018 at 12:58 pm #1202572235The biggest reason Kate won was because it was “her time” and the general competition. Vert few seemed to have much enthusiasm for her work in that film or the film itself. But yes, it was an awful victory. However, it wasn’t like her work in RR was all that worthy either.
