So i just saw Darkest hour today and it wasnt as boring as i thought , it was a good movie …
I agree with all it nominations except BP i would change it out with Tonya
but technically i would trade The Post and Coco out aswell …
still have to see Phantom Thread

Dunkirk will always be Nolan’s best achievement. Can TSOW overcome SAG ensemble curse? 4 weeks left to find out…
You misspelled “Memento.”
Everyone has their own opinion.
IMO, Memento was Nolan best work in terms of wrting, but the direction in Dunkirk, Inception and The Dark Knight stands out much more for me.
Maybe he forget the word “directorial” before achievement 😀February 9, 2018 at 10:32 pm #1202491105
Del Toro wins DGA. Can people stop trying to make Dunkirk happen? It’s Done-kirk. The most embarrassing wish-dicting I’ve ever seen. Even worse then the people trying to make Phantom Thread magically win BP.
I was the one who invented that “Done-Kirk” pun FYI. I called it that either after it got shut out at the Globes in wins or after it lost Stunt Ensemble at SAG, which even Unbroken somehow managed to win.February 10, 2018 at 3:34 pm #1202491432
seems like the worst year ever for adapted, most of the nominees getting 0 other noms.

The 1st Oscars were weird and had a grand total of 30 nominees including only 5 for acting. One of the 3 adaptation nominees was up for BP. Another of the 3 BP nominees was adapted, but just not nominated for Adaptation.February 13, 2018 at 9:50 am #1202493200
Question, for those of you lurking within the industry and talking to voters, is there really any passion out there for Shape of Water? In my opinion, the film is quite forgetful compared to a lot of the other nominees and I just can’t see this placing in the top 3 of most people’s ballots. What are voters feeling?February 13, 2018 at 10:15 am #1202493220February 13, 2018 at 10:28 am #1202493229

“Best Production Design
“Blade Runner 2049” sucked. It was a big disappointment. Clichéd. Not nearly as unique and witty as the original.”

You don’t have to be in the industry to know The Shape of Water has been nominated at all but one guild, already winning PGA and DGA. Obviously there’s passion.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantFebruary 13, 2018 at 1:22 pm #1202493305
If this person’s viewpoint is indicative of a myriad of Academy members, then Deakins is going to lose again this year and Three Billboards is going to kill. Also, the older voters not understanding Lady Bird was super predictable.February 13, 2018 at 1:34 pm #1202493322
After reading that Oscar voters opinions, I feel more confident about Three Billboards winning Picture than I ever have before, and that is saying a lot. I think their view of Get Out represents a lot of other voters, where they like it okay enough but don’t get what all the hype is about.
I like how neatly things are falling into place in every single Oscar category. The only ones I’m nervous about are Documentary Feature and Shorts. I wish Michael Musto had asked about those categories.
Did the voter even see Blade Runner 2049? Going off of their comments, I am choosing to make the assumption that either Mudbound or more likely The Shape of Water will get their vote for Cinematography. They didn’t like Dunkirk and while they seemed to like Darkest Hour I just don’t think that many voters are going to pick it as the year’s best in that specific category.February 13, 2018 at 6:11 pm #1202493424

I absolutely love Octavia Spencer and think she was fantastic in Shape of Water and she is one of my favorite actresses but I feel like she is starting to get type casted in these period pieces. If you look at her work on the CBS show Mom she shows she is capable of a lot of range.February 13, 2018 at 8:22 pm #1202493488
Lexi Alexander on Twitter
“I’ll be your non-anonymous Oscar voter: I voted mostly for Get Out and in some categories for The Shape of Water. I did not get Lady Bird or Billboards. I’m delighted we finally have a first woman DP nominee but I voted for Deakins because how the fuck can I not?”
I like Lexi a lot. She always says whatever is on her mind and doesn’t give a f**k what other people think. Talented director too IMO. I believe Punisher: War Zone is a really underrated action movie that deserved way better critics reviews and box office than it got.
