Pretty sure it’s at about 8:22PM, or 20:22!

I think they’re going back to that this year, at least for Best Picture, Director, etc.

I hope you take this in good faith, but seeing your happiness at Three Billboards and TSOW dominating the awards season makes me feel a little less unhappy about seeing my personal faves Lady Bird and Get Out fall flat.
TSOW will have 12-14 nominations and Three Billboards will probably have somewhere around 8, since I think Carter Burwell is getting in.
Sorry about that.
As much as i love Lady Bird, critics have really tainted it for me.Critics and their biased manner of treating awards and acclaim for certain films has bugged me for years. That’s why i absolutely love it when televised awards turn everything on its head. The King’s Speech year was one for the history books, and my all time favorite awards season. The Birdman year comes pretty close.
And it looks like this year will follow suit.
Just because 200 critics gave an award to a certain film doesn’t mean it is worthy of anything. All it means is that group think was at play and their constant speeches about diversity, inclusion and fair criticism is a load of bull.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 22, 2018 at 12:59 am #1202473991It’s interesting how the race seems to be between these two or three films that all have a lot going for and against them.
Three Billboards won Golden Globe Best Drama and SAG Ensemble, but is so divisive that the preferential ballot might hurt it.
The Shape of Water won Critics’ Choice and PGA, but wasn’t even nominated for SAG ensemble.
The Shape of Water will probably win DGA, Three Billboards might win BAFTA.
The only other film that could have a shot is Lady Bird. Golden Globes Best Comedy, could win WGA, and will probably do well in the preferential ballot. But it also has a problem in not even being nominated for BAFTA Best Film.
I’m hoping the nominations will tell us something that might help to point out what film is actually ahead.
