The categories for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay have been added to the Oscars 2019 predictions center.August 28, 2018 at 9:51 pm #1202619039
Just a guess for now…
Original – Roma
Adapted – If Beale Street Could TalkAugust 29, 2018 at 1:10 am #1202619122
Okay, I can understand studios not giving information or whatever, but there is no excuse I can accept for Sorry To Bother You not being in the predictions center for Original Screenplay with all the buzz it has for that specific Oscar category.August 31, 2018 at 5:15 pm #1202620917

I would LOVE for Incredibles 2 to get a nomination but I highly doubt it. Also Ready Player One (which has become one of my favourite films ever) even though its writing is the movie’s weakest points. Again both are pipe dreams.
I'm not perfect, but I keep trying.September 10, 2018 at 9:19 pm #1202629185

I find the screenplay categories interesting this year, at least this early on.
1. Beautiful Boy
3. If Beale Street Could Talk
5. First Man
Alt: The Front Runner
Notes: I’ve noticed a lot of people overlooking Beautiful Boy in pretty much every category except Supporting Actor, which surprises me since I have it as my No. 1 for Actor, Supporting Actor, and Adapted Screenplay (I also see it getting a Picture nomination, snowball’s chance in hell of winning though). As for the rest, they’re all kinda interchangeable this early on.
1. The Favourite
2. Vice (this week’s new Backseat title)
4. Sorry to Bother You
5. Green Book
Alt: Eighth Grade
Notes: Gonna be honest, with things looking the way they are, I’m predicting an A24 shutout. I don’t see any Oscar buzz for any of their titles right now. This can change fast, but for now this is what it is.
Roma can very easily shoot up to number one for me. I didn’t even think of it for most categories seeing as it’s a foreign language Netflix film. I started to reconsider after the atomic explosion of great reception it got from the festivals.
My underdog for this race is Sorry to Bother You. Right now chances are unlikely but I see it getting in. Unless Annapurna puts no money into a FYC campaign (wouldn’t put it past them seeing as they have 2 potential BP nominees to promote) and it gets only, like, a San Diego Film Critics nom and that’s it, nothing’s gonna change my mind.
