Sir, you’re the ignorant/arrogant one. I know you’re fan of “Marriage Story” (&”Jojo Rabbit”) but…. Have you watched the film yet? Do you know how this film will end up in the award season now? You know nothing but a trailer, just like everybody else. So why can’t I compare it to another film which was also highly anticipated but ended up getting nothing after its release? I’m talking about the awards & noms, obviously not the subject of the films. It’s not even September, relax. ugh

The thing is Marriage Story actually looks good unlike Beautiful Boy.

Lmfaoo. Avengers Endgame would be lucky to get a visual effects nomination.

I won’t count Avengers entirely out for Best Picture, since Disney did manage to get Black Panther there with enough of a push. Furthermore, “biggest box office of all time” is a big selling point for Academy voters wanting to make the Oscars more relevant*.

I don’t think it’ll get a performance nomination though, or even screenplay. I have to laugh at that.

*In their viewpoint. Nominating a superhero movie isn’t going to fix ratings trends.

Making my Best Animated Feature OP made me realise how stacked a year this is for animation. (https://www.goldderby.com/forum/movies/oscars-2020-best-animated-feature-predictions/)

What other categories are going to be hyper-competitive this year?

If Hugh Jackman failed to garner a nomination for Logan, RDJ will not receive one for actor/supp actor.

For whomever was doubting Dern earlier, she’s had such a great 2 years… very different from the year Wild came out.

And where is this Beautiful Boy comparison coming from? Marriage story shouldn’t be a top-contender just yet, I agree, but comparing those two films makes no sense at all.

Also, both Joker and Endgame together are not getting in. One might, but both will not.

    1. Hugh Jackman wasn’t AS campaigned as Robert Downey Jr currently is.

    2. You may be right they might pick one or the other but the Academy has been slowly losing their superhero biasm that right now I’m predicting both.

Biggest box office of all time didnt help Force Awakens. Endgame aint happening. No one is going to care about it by the time Skywalker comes out. And that isnt happening either.

Force Awakens was not the highest in the first place.

Endgame is literally not happening. If the horrible popular film category actually happens this year, then it’ll get nominated there, but not Best Picture.

I love how you say “literally” as if there’s nothing to back it up. Highest grossing movie of all time, praised for being a terrific conclusion to the three phases, as well as a conclusion to certain characters’ arcs, the filmmakers campaigning the movie, even other filmmakers (Like Barry Jenkins) supporting this to get nominated.

Endgame is nowhere near acting nominations, if Black Panther couldn’t get Screenplay than this won’t. It’s getting both Sound categories, Visual Effects and that’s probably it

    FYC Emmys-
Limited- Quiz/ Unbelievable/ Years and Years

Drama-Big Little Lies/ The Crown/ Killing Eve/ The Morning Show
Jennifer, Jodie, Sandra, Olivia & VIOLA DAVIS

Comedy- Schitts Creek/ Dead to Me- Christina Applegate, Catherine O’Hara, Suzy Nakamura, Annie Murphy, Dan Levy

This is the highest grossing movie of all time we’re talking. Why would the HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE OF ALL TIME only get technical nominations? Also Endgame is more screenplay focused compared to Black Panther which was more on size and scale with visual storytelling so of course it wouldn’t get a Screenplay nod. Endgame on the other hand is actually more character driven.
