    It went from 30 million three years ago to 9.85 million in 2021 ☠️☠️

    How was the on demand, streaming, youtube or any internet ratings tho? cause in other events like the Grammys theyve only been rising more and more.

    9.85 million viewers. Down more than 10 million. An absolute mess. No one cares anymore.

    It’s karma for not giving her the win.

    FYC: All things The Crown, Hacks and I May Destroy You (and Hannah Waddingham and Julianne Nicholson whilst you're at it)!!

    Carey Mulligan entering the night blasted by the sun and ending it sitting in the dark is the perfect allegory of the ceremony proceedings..

    I felt so bad for her, lol. Absolute mess.

    A fun and unpredictable year. I’m happy for the winners I wanted to win, and disappointed of course with the nominees I wanted to prevail that didn’t. That’s how it goes. Hopefully the Twitter crowds can get the hint, and also do some film research. A lot of them are not very bright when it comes to awards history or how the Oscars work. They just want to complain.

    With the amount of accounts social media suspends for stupid reasons (I won’t even go into which ones), I think anyone dissing Frances Mcdormand and Anthony Hopkins with horrible accusations, conspiracy theories, and racist names should have their accounts taken down for a few months- as a reminder to show some respect.

    Til next year, it was nice to see old friends and new, and to everyone- please watch these movies and celebrate a splendid year for performances and filmmaking all around.

    i did find the directing approach interesting (as more of a dinner gala). but changing bp from last was truly ridiculous.

    but even if it was bizarre those last 30 minutes, I still had fun. specially at Frances stomp

    Darlings, Thatcher told you Demented Hopkins was going to win. Once again you laughed at your Prime Minister. #65 out of 9348 users. You owe your Prime Minister an apology dear citizens.

    Prime Minister, you really are The Oracle.

    Hold the phone here, I may have been mistaken about Olivier’s Best Picture win for Hamlet. While he produced Hamlet according to Wikipedia, not the most reliable source I realize, before 1951 the Best Picture Oscar was officially given to the production company and not the film’s producers. IMDB also does not have Olivier listed as a Best Picture winner for Hamlet either.

    I will have to check the Academy’s website to see if Olivier is officially recognized as a double Oscar winner for the film or not.

    From oscars.org awards database, here are the awards and nominations for Hamlet:

    Hamlet
    J. Arthur Rank-Two Cities Films; Universal-International. [United Kingdom]
    1948 (21st)
    ACTOR — Laurence Olivier {“Hamlet”} WINNER
    ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE — Jean Simmons {“Ophelia”}
    ART DIRECTION (Black-and-White) — Art Direction: Roger K. Furse; Set Decoration: Carmen Dillon WINNER
    COSTUME DESIGN (Black-and-White) — Roger K. Furse WINNER
    DIRECTING — Laurence Olivier
    MUSIC (Music Score of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture) — William Walton
    BEST MOTION PICTURE — J. Arthur Rank-Two Cities Films WINNER

    So it looks as if Olivier did not receive the award for producing Hamlet, but did receive a special award for doing all on Henry V
    Laurence Olivier [aka: Sir Laurence Olivier] {d. Jul 11, 1989}
    1939 (12th)
    ACTOR — Wuthering Heights {“Heathcliff”}
    1940 (13th)
    ACTOR — Rebecca {“Maxim de Winter”}
    1946 (19th)
    ACTOR — Henry V {“Henry V”}SPECIAL AWARD
    To Laurence Olivier for his outstanding achievement as actor, producer and director in bringing Henry V to the screen. [statuette]
    1948 (21st)
    ACTOR — Hamlet {“Hamlet”} [statuette]DIRECTING — Hamlet
    1956 (29th)
    ACTOR — Richard III {“Richard III”}
    1960 (33rd)
    ACTOR — The Entertainer {“Archie Rice”}
    1965 (38th)
    ACTOR — Othello {“Othello”}
    1972 (45th)
    ACTOR — Sleuth {“Andrew Wyke”}
    1976 (49th)
    ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE — Marathon Man {“Szell”}
    1978 (51st)
    ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE — The Boys from Brazil {“Ezra Lieberman”}HONORARY AWARD
    To Laurence Olivier for the full body of his work, for the unique achievements of his entire career and his lifetime of contribution to the art of film. [statuette]

    It looks like Hopkins wanted to accept the award by Zoom and the producers didn’t let him.
    The same with Ann Roth, who also didn’t travel.

    I came 312th. The only category I am cursing myself over is Lead Actor because I had Hopkins till the last minute and then switched him. I knew the international vote will carry him through, just like it carried Olivia Colman and Bong Joon Ho. I should have stuck to Hopkins.

    Ratings collapsed, as it should. It would drop either way, but they could’ve reduced the damage by doing a decent show.
