Hopkins win was stunning but it wasn’t entirely out of left field. I didn’t think Frances would win but she did. Seventh time Oscar has broken with SAG in Best Actress.
ReplyCopy URLApril 25, 2021 at 8:24 pm #1204226258An incredible, brutal ending. Boseman was excellent, but man, Hopkins really deserved that win. If only Carey Mulligan rightfully won her trophy too. What a strange ending. I gotta go to bed.
ReplyCopy URLApril 25, 2021 at 8:24 pm #1204226260Boseman fuckign died and was loved by everyone. he gave a phenomenal performance and this was his last chance to ever receive recognition from the academy. he was iconic and inspired a generation. And they gave it to an 80 year old white guy who didn;t even bother to show up.
it was for the quality of performance. Not because someone wants to showed up.
ReplyCopy URLApril 25, 2021 at 8:24 pm #1204226262I’m just glad this award season (music, cinema, TV etc.) is finally over. A mess across the board. lmao
ReplyCopy URLApril 25, 2021 at 8:24 pm #1204226264Andra Day and Chadwick Boseman should’ve won in the lead categories. What does it take for the Oscars to represent deserving black performers in non-supporting categories?

I don’t even know what to say right nowReplyCopy URLFYC:
All things Succession, Severance, Ted Lasso, The Great and The White Lotus! Also, Colin Firth and Janelle James while you're at it.
April 25, 2021 at 8:25 pm #1204226271Congratulations to Frances. It was a fantastic performance.
Although I prefer Carey. It was a worthy win.
ReplyCopy URLApril 25, 2021 at 8:25 pm #1204226279I changed my Best Actress prediction from McDormand to Mulligan at the last minute due to the results of the “secret ballots” thread. I should’ve known better. Well, tonight confirms what I suspected all along: McDormand ALWAYS wins when nominated in lead, and ONLY when nominated in lead. At this rate, she’ll beat Katharine Hepburn’s record in no time. Go, Frances!
My copying the results of the “secret ballots” thread also cost me a correct prediction for Original Screenplay. I originally predicted PYW then changed it to Chicago 7 at the last minute.
But on the bright side, that same strategy did result in me correctly predicting Hopkins’ win. Not only that, I super-betted that one. Yay! 🙂
ReplyCopy URLApril 25, 2021 at 8:25 pm #1204226281Honestly if they had his widow show up just for that bull, then f*** the academy for that. Regardless of what you might think about who deserved to win, that would be screwed up
ReplyCopy URLApril 25, 2021 at 8:25 pm #1204226285This ceremony was garbage. This is low even for Oscar standards.
The final moment of the night was an apathetic Joaquin Phoenix presenting Best Actor to a not present Anthony Hopkins. That’s says all.
The Union Station was a good location and the idea of making the ceremony look like a motion picture was good, but everything was so poorly executed.

BEST OSCARS EVER YAY FOR HOPKINS. I’m so fucking happyApril 25, 2021 at 8:26 pm #1204226292Unless they do a sex scene and degrade themselves on the big screen.
ReplyCopy URLApril 25, 2021 at 8:26 pm #1204226294I will NEVER be convinced that Boseman didn’t deserve Best Actor for his career best performance. One of the most incredible portrayals of simmering black rage i’ve ever seen.
ReplyCopy URLApril 25, 2021 at 8:26 pm #1204226296<p style=”text-align: left;”>Mcdormand is the most overrated actress in the history of hollywood. The woman just plays herself on camera, I have literally never seen any acting from her ever.</p>
