It was definitely weird for them to actually go with this, but this leads me to believe that they have 100% faith that Chad can win in lead and want to do right by him.

Does anyone think this could lead to Oldman missing?

    1. Anthony Hopkins (The Father)
    2. Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom)
    3. Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah)
    4. Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods)
    5. Gary Oldman (Mank)

I’m pissed about Netflix’s decision on Chadwick but having potentially 3 black leads nominated sounds like a pipe dream.

No way. If they keep Kaluuya in lead then Hanks or Ahmed would miss, but from the looks of it on twitter, everybody is on the Kaluuya for supporting train. So no, Oldman will not miss this year.

Nah. His hype is still very strong and his film will be a major player. He’s gonna be like DiCaprio last year. His odds of winning are very low, but the combination of name, performance, and film should keep his nomination secure, even against performers with more passion.

Can WB just submit Kaluuya for supporting so we have an easy front runner for supporting actor and that him and Hopkins can both win.

FYC Oscars: Chloe Zhao (Nomadland), Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Mark Rylance (Trial of the Chicago 7), Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), Soul (Best Picture, Best Animated Feature Film, and Best Original Screenplay)

FYC Golden Globes (TV): Ted Lasso (Best Comedy Series), Jason Sudekis (Best Actor in a Comedy Series), Hannah Waddingham (Best Supporting Actress), The Boys (Best Drama Series), Anthony Starr (Best Actor in a Drama Series)

Even though I want Boseman to win lead so bad, it’s gonna be hard to top Hopkins. I have Kaluuya winning supporting though.

    I’m thinking same.

Just wondered what people thought about the possibility.

Either that or he’s gonna be like de Niro in The Irishman, the already rewarded star in the titular role but that no one is really passionate about.

Well Chadwick going Lead just threw a wrench in my predictions. I’ll have to rethink everything now. I think Chadwick could still win in Lead. We’ll have to see how the movie turns out though,

I agree that this is the likely five.

Dear Gold Derby, please add Ibrahima Gueye to the prediction center 🙂
