(7. Kaluuya)I cannot see Globe not awarding Hopkins. Sir Tony never won a Globe before. I love Boseman and he is a legend by any means but his legacy is still overshadowed by the greatest villain of the 20th century.
Dammit, is Netflix actually putting Boseman in lead? What a bunch of idiots! They are completely screwing up their campaign this year! Hopkins is unbeatable: Boseman’s chance at a posthumous win is now dead. 😭
On the bright side, maybe Stanfield can win if he gives a really good performance?

as much as it wouldbe easier to get him that Oscar in Supporting it looks like lead is going to be the one they chose….which probably means he isn’t going to win since Lindo/Hopkins are there. But at least he would get a posthomous nom. Still think should have gone supporting.
Also, now that Boseman’s in lead there’s no chance Hanks gets a nom or we get an all-British lineup. The noms are pretty much locked as

I don’t think either Lindo or Kaluuya are locked. We haven’t even seen Kaluuya’s film yet, and Lindo runs the risk of being overshadowed by others given his film came out so early.
Do you all think Ma Rainey will have its 2 leads winning Best Actress and Best Actor? The last time it happened was almost 23 years ago.
Yeah I mean I have Kaluuya second because I think the nomination will be harder for him than the win.
If he goes supporting I’d say unless Judas flops he’s easily in and potentially winning.

Literally how. Posthumous narratives backed by great performances are helpful, but nowhere near infallible. He is probably not sweeping the awards season, even if he does win the Oscar in the end.

I personally think News of the World looks decent-to-good (about on par with Chicago 7 in quality), and if there has to be a “feel good” movie along the lines of Green Book or Jojo I would much rather it was this than Hillbilly Elegy, which is barely even trying (other than Glenn & Amy’s acting).
