Boseman’s career best could be better than Hopkins’ career best. Having a smaller filmography doesn’t preclude one from being a good actor lol Edit: I see you’ve edited your post to say “a higher bar” than “better”.

Nope, it always said “higher bar”. And, I also never said that Boseman wasn’t a good actor.

I’m intrigued as to whether you’re referring to Anderson, Streep or Thatcher the user lol.

They’re probably referring to “Thatcher”, the drag queen who lives on the Internet and shitposts everywhere.

The Globes need to just put me out of my misery and settle the Hopkins-Boseman discourse.

    7. John David Washington, Malcolm & Marie 8. Lakeith Stanfield, Judas and the Black Messiah

I definitely think Stanfield is above Jdw right now. We have nothing to go off of for M&M except for the two stills and the release date.

I think Boseman is going to win this. People want him to win.

At least we know he’s a lead and that his film is coming up this Oscar season. But Netflix already has Boseman, Oldman and Lindo so I agree, JDW doesn’t have that much of a chance.

People wanted Glenn Close to win. What the people want means fuck all. It’s all down to what the HFPA wants.

Will the Globes even take notice that Hopkins has never won with them? They did give him the Cecil B. DeMille award a couple years back.

You pretty much answered your own question. HFPA voters absolutely know that Hopkins has never been awarded there.

And so does SAG. Remember, they gave Denzel Washington an award in the middle of Casey’s massive sweep just because he never won there.

No one thought Theron was winning when Bombshell was released (and I say this as one of the few who thought she was likelier than Johansson to win at the time).

That’s not true at all. I still remember the verbal battles I had with that crazed Bombshell stan. Don’t remember their name anymore, but they were blowing up this sub-forum.

Oldman missing is surprising even if it’s an irrelevant group. Love to see Riz here since he was AMAZING in Sound of Metal.
