At least we know he’s a lead and that his film is coming up this Oscar season. But Netflix already has Boseman, Oldman and Lindo so I agree, JDW doesn’t have that much of a chance.

You pretty much answered your own question. HFPA voters absolutely know that Hopkins has never been awarded there.

And so does SAG. Remember, they gave Denzel Washington an award in the middle of Casey’s massive sweep just because he never won there.
