Darlings, your beloved Prime Minister just saw Mank… one of Fincher’s classiest movies. Very Thatcherian. Restrained Oldman deserves the dildo.
Thatcher’s returned!
What are your thoughts on Flopbilly Elegy? Have you seen it yet?

Best Adapted Screenplay: The Midnight SkyNovember 24, 2020 at 7:55 am #1203861468The Globes need to just put me out of my misery and settle the Hopkins-Boseman discourse.
Yeah, we’re going to have to deal with this for a while. And the worst part is that the critic awards are no longer an accurate bellwether. So whoever wins those won’t realky matter if the other contender still wins the Globe.

What are you talking about??? Variety already confirmed last week that Judas and News are going to be coming this Oscar season (both have been submitted to Sag) and have already been seen by very few critics/journalists.

Sorry, I forgot that.
November 24, 2020 at 12:45 pm #1203866513Chadwick Boseman Delroy Lindo Anthony Hopkins Gary Oldman Kingsley Ben Adir Yeun, Ahmed is not gonna happen, sorry!
Not so sure about Ben Adir. Heard he isn’t a dominant lead and that his performance is not showy.
November 24, 2020 at 1:36 pm #1203866963Ben is on shaky ground due to what I’m hearing as well about the performance not being very showy.
November 24, 2020 at 2:00 pm #1203867136Yeah I don’t think One Night In Miami happens here. Supporting is practically locked.
FYC:
Best Director - Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Darius Marder (Sound of Metal)
Lead Actor - Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal)
Supporting Actor - Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)
Supporting Actress - Youn Yuh-jung (Minari)

It’s weird to me that the person playing Malcolm X of all people has a less showy role than Leslie Odom Jr.

I’ve never been convinced that was the reason. A small group like HFPA is probably very aware of its history, but SAG has approximately 160,000 members, and there isn’t so much collective knowledge of who has or hasn’t won SAG awards compared to Oscars. I think Denzel’s role, as a two-time Tony-winner, was just more appealing to actors than Casey’s more internalised work in an indie drama. This, if anything, pushes me towards predicting Chadwick at SAG.
November 24, 2020 at 3:17 pm #1203867597Pretending like there is a collective “they” among SAG voters doesn’t really make sense considering how many voters there are.
November 24, 2020 at 3:20 pm #1203867616The buzz around Ben-Adir seems so muted. I don’t see that much excitement/passion for his performance. Staying with these five for now:
Boseman
Hopkins
Lindo
Oldman
AhmedAlt Yeun

That’s basically what I have right now but switch Yeun and Lindo. Which is more because of my profound love for Minari than anything else.

Honestly, I think that at this point Yeun and Ahmed will fight for the 5th spot if Daniel Kaluuya goes Supporting. I think the top 4 are as safe as one can be at this point in the race.

seems odd to me that people are taking out Ben Adir for being supposedly not showy enough for Ahmed who is definitely not showy at all.
November 25, 2020 at 12:28 pm #1203872961Not showy at all? I’ve just seen a clip in which Ahmed is pretty showy.
