Hopefully Hopkins can win one more before he retires. Maybe for Cus and Mike? Playing Cus D’Amato (Mike Tyson’s first trainer) is gonna be such a baity role and Hopkins is literally the most perfect casting because they look so much alike imo. I feel like they should combine this film and the other Mike Tyson biopic with Jamie Foxx and try to rework it to make it one.

TIME Best Movie Performances of 2020

Chadwick Boseman, Da 5 Bloods and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom

“In what was an all-around rough year, we’re at least fortunate to have not just one but two terrific Chadwick Boseman performances, counterweights to the sorrow of losing him.[…] And in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, a film adaptation of August Wilson’s 1982 play, Boseman’s portrayal of Levee, a brilliant, charismatic trumpet player, glistens: Levee’s ideas are too big for the constrained world around him, and though he carries rage and suffering in his heart, he strains to keep those those things from defining him. As Boseman plays him, his contradictions are as knotty as a flexed bicep, and there’s both joy and haunted anger in his eyes. This performance is one sustained, bent note, with so many subtle gradations it registers as a symphony.”

Well, looks like Tom Hanks is not getting in after all.

Great news for Steven Yeun, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Riz Ahmed and whoever goes lead in Judas.

This category is boring. Nominees look solid enough. I think another shoe will drop but it’s taking too long.

I love Hanks but he has been on autopilot for years, his last riskiest role was in the coen brothers’ “ladykillers”. lol

May be controversial here, but imho Hanks didn’t even deserve to get in last year for the Mr Rogers movie, Song Kang Ho should have been there at his place.

I don’t think that’s controversial, Song was the more popular performance. At least on here he definitely was.

Though I think generally, people think Hanks was still a good nominee, even if there were more popular performances that got snubbed.

I personally would’ve had both in my lineup.
